The Service of Historical Archives provides tutorial programs to students of Greek universities who work as trainees for one to four months and assist the Service in the process of cataloguing and computerizing documents. These students come from the faculties of history, political science and law of the University of Athens. To date 60 students have been trained and offered their assistance to the Service on a 7 hour 5 days per week basis. The student internships are funded by the European Union program (acronym in Greek E.P.E.A.E.K.) for initial professional training. The management of the program is coordinated with the faculties of the above mentioned Institution. The program will continue in 1999 and will include students from other university faculties. The aim of our Service is to attract students from the Technological educational Institutions of Athens, Departments of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Arts and Libraly Science, as well as the Ionian (Corfu) University, Department of Archivists.
