Dear Alternate Minister, Dear George

I would like to thank you for the excellent cooperation we have enjoyed during the Greek Chairmanship in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Starting with quite “stormy” preparations at the end of April in Thesssaloniki and Athens, the most successful six months leadership of Greece in the Council of Europe ended on 4 November with the 103rd session of the Committee of Ministers, dealing with the report of the Wise Persons Committee and the topical item of the Council of Europe’s role in regional cooperation and settlement of conflicts in south-eastern Europe, introduced by You.

Your personal commitment to the Council of Europe, its values and activities, has been very much appreciated within both the Parliamentary Assembly and the Committee of Ministers. I am confident that we will continue this most beneficial cooperation in the future, particularly on such crucial issues as support to civil society and media in south-eastern Europe, as well your initiative to develop enhanced understanding and cooperation between orthodox churches and European Institutions.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Tarschys
