STATE VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA TO GREECE (21-24 APRIL 2000)

 

 

 

 

The President of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Jiang Zemin will pay a state visit to Greece (21-24 April 2000). Mr. Zemin will be accompanied by Mr. Qian Qichen, Vice President of the State Council, several ministers and other officials.

 

Mr. Zemin will be officially welcomed by the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Constantinos Stephanopoulos at the Presidential Palace, in Athens. The two Presidents will conduct talks with the participation of Mr. Papandreou, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Papantoniou, Minister of National Economy, Mr. Christodoulakis, Minister of Development and other officials.

 

Mr. Zemin will also hold talks with Prime Minister Simitis and meetings with the President of the Parliament, leaders of the opposition and the Mayor of Athens.

 

During his stay in Athens, Mr. Zemin will visit the Acropolis and the Panathinaikon Stadium. Mr. Stephanopoulos will host a state dinner in honour of his high guest and will grant Mr. Zemin the Grant Cross of the Savor, highest decoration of the Hellenic Republic.

 

Concluding his stay in Greece, President Zemin will visit the city of Heraclion and the Archaeological site of Knossos in Crete.
