NEW DEMOCRACY AND MINOR OPPOSITION CONTINUE PRE-ELECTION CAMPAIGNS

Athens, September 7 (M.P.A.)

In preparation of the country's September 22 general elections, New Democracy President Miltiades Evert continues his pre-election campaign tour, currently visiting the cities of Larisa and Karditsa, while the party's honorary president and ex-premier Konstantinos Mitsotakis continues his campaign in the Peloponnese.

Minor opposition party Political Spring's leader, Antonis Samaras, criticised both Mr. Evert and Mr. Simitis by stating that behind the two leaders are "invisible power players."

Communist Party of Greece Secretary-General Aleka Paparega is conducting a tour on the island of Lesvos. At a speaking engagement last evening, Ms. Paparega stated that the targets of the European Union's convergence program are imbalanced in favor of the german economy and, in general, European industrialists and bankers.
