DAILY LIFE AND WORSHIP ON THE HOLY MOUNTAIN

Everyday life on the Holy Mountain is organized on the basis of the command of the elders: "Pray incessantly". The necessary daily work is interwoven with prayer and adjusted according to the times of the devotional duties. The terrain and the climatic conditions on the Holy Mountain, where monasticism has been flourishing for more than 1,200 years, and the difficulty of travelling around, are the reasons that many "archaic" elements have been preserved in the daily Athonite life.

The presentation of Daily Life and Worship is done through eleven units which cover the subject to a satisfactory degree. These units are: Worship, Music, Health, Armed Groups, Workshop, Clock-making, Dependencies, The Vine and Wine, Painting Workshops, Printshop - Photography Studio - Block Printing Shop, Watermills - Windmills.

Relevant original objects will be presented for each unit (700+5 collections), designs, photographs and explanatory texts.
