Help!I am having problems typing accented characters.
I live in the United States, and have a US-English configured computer and keyboard. I have Windows 98. I purchased my computer early 1999, and as soon as I purchased my computer, I downloaded Greek fonts through HRI.org. I have not had any problems with Greek fonts until this year.
Suddenly, I am having problems typing accented characters in MS Works AND in text bars (or text boxes) in MS Explorer. I press Left Alt + Shift to change the language settings from US English to Greek. I can type non-accented characters, but I'm having problems typing vowels with an accent and/or a diaresis. I press the ";" key, and the accent appears on the screen twice, before I have the chance to type in the vowel. The same problem comes up when I press "'" for the diaresis, and Shift + ":" for the accent/diaresis combination.
I wonder what it is I did recently that created this problem. I upgraded my MS Explorer browser (for free) to the most updated edition, but I have NOT changed Microsoft Works. Despite this, I am having prblems with Greek accented vowels in my browser (MS Explorer), and MS Works, AND other applications (Paintbrush, etc.) The only thing I can think of is a pissible cookie that has gotten into my system and has messed things up?
What should I do?
PS:
here's my problem:
I press ";" then "h" for an accented eta. But this is what I get instead:
´´ç
I press ";" then "o" for an accented omicron, but this is what I get isntead:
´´ï
I press "'" then i for a iota w/ diaresis, but this is what I get instead:
¨¨é
How do I solve this problem?
