LIVADI

Photo Livadi, Serifos's port, is situated 5 km south of Hora. Ships, as well as smaller cutters and caiques, sail to this port. The snow-white houses of the settlement are built in an area richly vegetated by fruit-bearing trees and garden cultivations. The small, narrow, pebbled streets between the houses give Livadi its unique picturesque beauty.

MEGALO LIVADI

Photo The seaside settlement, Megalo Livadi, is situated 13 km south-west of Hora. In the 19th century, it used to be the main commercial port on the island and was always busy. Nowadays, it is a picturesque seaside settlement with only a few inhabitants. In the area, the remains of ancient graves of great archaeological interest have been found. At Megalo Livadi, worth visiting is the Byzantine church of Agios Ioannis the Baptist with remarkable frescoes (17th c.).

SERIFOS (HORA)

Photo Hora is the capital of Serifos and is situated on the eastern side of the island. It is a very beautiful city and a typical example of Cycladic architecture with white houses, narrow little streets, windmills and pebbled yards. On the peak of Hora is the Venetian castle, where the view is breathtaking. In the city are remarkable Byzantine churches, such as the Metropolis of Agios Athanasios (4th-5th c.), Evangelismos (Annunciation), the Christ church, Agios Eleutherios, Agios Ioannis Theologos, which is built on the site of an ancient temple of Athena, and Agios Konstantinos. There is also a remarkable archaeological collection with finds from the Hellenistic and the Roman period, which is housed in the Town Hall building, which was constructed in 1907.
