ALOPRONIA

Photo Alopronia lies 3.5 km south-west of Hora. It is a picturesque seaside settlement which attracts many holiday makers in the summer months. Its inhabitants are mainly fishermen and its tavernas serve a great variety of sea-food titbits. Caique services link Alopronia to the neigbouring island of Folegandros.

SIKINOS OR HORA

Photo Sikinos, or Hora, is the island's capital. It is a lovely town of typical Cycladic colour with its old mansions, gleaming white houses, arched windows, stone staircases, and quaint narrow alleyways. It consists of two settlements: Kastro, the oldest and more picturesque, and the more modern Sikinos. At the centre of the town are the church of Pantanassa and its lovely main square with the picturesque coffee shops and tavernas. From Sikinos, one can visit the monastery of Zoodohos Pigi or Hrissopigi, and the ancient site of Episkopi, which has ruins of an ancient settlement and temple.
