[01] COOPERATION WITH ATHENS MUNICIPALITY DEEPENS - SarandaSARANDA, DEC 28 (ATA) By Shkelqim Hajno: The visit payed recently in Saranda by the delegation of the Athens municipality, led by its mayor Dhimitris Avramopullos, confirmed once again the common desire to deepen the good neighbourliness and cooperation even in the levels of local government between both countries."In the relations between our municipalities and local powers we should proceed to the years 2000", declared Avramopullos, in the reception organized on the occasion of his visit. He pointed out that "Our municipality is interested in treating the Albanian emigrants as human beings and the same, even if they are not legalized". During this visit, Avramopullos and the Mayor of Saranda, Capajec Zera, signed a protocol-agreement for the sister relations of the Saranda orphanage with a counterpart institution in Athens. In the visit payed in the orphanage, Avramopullos distributed several aids and toys, which reached the amount of 3 million drachmas. From preliminary statistics it comes out that this increase is around 10-12 per cent. The same growth of production is registered in meat and milk productions. This year alone, the meat processing industry in Tirana marked an increase of about 7 times as against 1995. In the mean time, the number of meat processing centers has also increased five times from seven centers last year, such as those of the firms Kenedi, Demiri, Dea, Albana, VEFA, etc. They ensure a production of 48 000 quintals of sausage a year or 7 times more than last year. jz/xh/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] REQUESTS OF PRISHTINA STUDENTS SHOULD BE EXAMINEDPRISHTINE, DEC 27 (ATA) - The Presidency of the Albanian National Unity Party writes in a statement that the requests of the students of the Prishtina University addressed to President Rugova must be indispensably examined as soon as possible.The tendencies to neglect the requests or to declare them as manipulated would further aggravate the relations in Kosova. The Albanian National Unity Party stresses that "it is regretful for a party when it is opposed by the most conscious part of the nation - the students, but it would be a great bad fortune when all the people agree to such a policy, which is evidently not yielding the expected results." The declaration runs that "courageous voices of our well-known patriots and great intellectuals to accelerate concrete actions for the realisation of the independence of Kosova and for the solution to the Albanian question are serious remarks which help overcome the psychology of waiting and the cultivated fear. For this party, it is a special satisfaction that finally the national and political course of this party is being supported by other parties, by potential intellectuals and patriots and especially by the excellent student youth." "The National Unity Party favours more the practical realisation of the national objective than the consolidation of any party or political block with a an extreme national course," the declaration writes at the end. bj/pta/kei/xh/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION FOR INFORMATION REQUESTS CONVENING OF KOSOVA PARLIAMENTPRISTINA, DEC 27 (ATA) - The parliamentary commission for information in the yesterday meeting requested quick convening of the Kosova Parliament."The big delay does not mean that the Assembly should not convene, and when it is requested more than ever the institutionalization of life in Kosova. The preparations for local and parliamentary elections should also start", was said in the meeting. The parliamentary commission for information, analysing the work of Kosova parliament in groups and in parliamentary commissions, noticed that it was not satisfactory and was done without any coordination and any preparatory plan.
