[15] NEWS CONFERENCE ON CONCLUSIONS OF DP NATIONAL ACTIVISTS' MEETING

TIRANA, APRIL 15 (ATA) - By A Frasheri: Today the new DP presidency, elected by the national activists' meeting of the Democratic Party two days ago, gave a news conference. Also ivited in that meeting were the DP parliamentary group deputies. The DP presidency made public the results of the meeting regarding the DP organization and the present situation in the country, the options of this party to come out of the present situation.

"The aim of the meeting," said in the news conference the DPA chairman, Tritan Shehu, was to discuss the grave situation created in Albania, the present needs, its causes, consequences and the roads DP would follow to revive its activity, its structure, the emergent and mid-term objectives for the gradual solution of the situation."

The responsibilities of the DP state structures are numerous and the DP Presidency was of the opinion that the meeting had made an honest and radical analysis of these responsibilites.

Despite the indisputable achievements of DP in the past five years, also mistakes have been made, towards which DP might have reacted quickly and clearly, but as the resolution says, "the resposibility of the extinguisher cannot be compared with that of the incendiary."

The presented materials, the discussion which are being made public and the adopted resolution show that "the cause of the destabilization was a coup d'etat of the leninist type realised in the country, and to this end aim people's dissatisfaction created as a result of the collapse of pyramid investment schemes was exploited," said Mr Shehu.

The DP National Council meeting made an extensive analysis of the question of public relations, which DP had not conceived in continuation.

In reply to a reporter's question, Shehu said that the public relations are one of the most indispesnable points which must be improved in this period." He stressed that the analysis of the events is not over only with that made in a meeting, but it would continue to uncover and discuss facts and proofs "of a conspiracy to topple the power and constitutional order in Albania through violence."

"Their aim," said Shehu, "was not to replace Meksi government with another government. The objective was the destroy DP and the democratic power. This aim was not achieved. We are not surprised by the fact that the attack was spearheaded to DP and the President, as the man who has contributed so much during this period to the democratic development and the overthrow of the dictatorship."

"DP," said Shehu in the news conference "has a great responsiblity for what happened, because it was the political force which had the institutions. During these years, DP made everything possible to consolidate the economy, to develop democracy, but it seems that it has not been able to consolidate the institutions, to make them more solid."

For the DP leader, "organizers of the conspiracy are left wing extremists, former state security collaborators, mafia segments ,etc, who, profiting from the chaotic and instable state in some of our institutions, created this situation of violence and terror in the country." xh/k

During the meeting, they discussed on the concrete aspects of the government's work, as well as on the situation in the country and the ways to overcome the crisis, mainly in the stabilization of the administration, local government and order.

"In this aspect, we will welcome the aid of the friendly Turkey," stressed Fino.

The Turkish parliamentarians wished the government and the Albanian Premier further successes in realizing their mission. /kei/mt/k
