    TIRANA, SEPT 13 (ATA) - By Th Thanasi: Turkey will help Albania with all her possibilities, - declared the Turkish Defence Minister, Ismet Sezkin, in the meeting he held Friday with his Albanian counterpart, Sabit Brokaj. The Turkish Minister was accompanied in the meeting by the chief admiral Emin Bilgel and other senior officers.

    Turkey is attentively following the situation in Albania, said Sezkin, who expressed the conviction that the new Albanian government will play an important role in the solution of domestic problems./a.ke/kled/mt/sh/

    [02] TURKISH GOVERNMENT IS READY TO BE ENGAGED IN RESTRUCTURING OF ALBANIAN ARMY - Turkish Minister of Defence -

    TIRANA, SEPT 13 (ATA) - The Turkish government is ready to be engaged in restructuring the Albanian army within all modalities of bilateral relations and in the Euro-Atlantic framework, declared the deputy Premier and Turkish Minister of Defence, Ismet Sezgin, in the meeting held Friday with Albania's Prime Minister Fatos Nano.

    Turkey supports Albania's membership into NATO and greets reaching of agreements in the field of security with her neighbours, Italy and Greece, said Sezkin in the meeting.

    The Albanian-Turkish relations are very friendly, of good neighbouring and with potential possibilities to be further developed, said Albania's Premier who added that this would be to the interest of creating an atmosphere of peace and stability in the Balkans.

    The Turkish Defence Minister conveyed to Nano the greetings of Turkish PM, Mesut Jillmas, as well as the invitation made to him to visit Turkey./a.ke/kled/mt/sh/

    [03] ALBANIAN-GREEK RELATIONS - PRIORITY FOR BOTH PARTIES

    TIRANA, SEPT 13 (ATA) - By Odise Goro: The Greek Prime Minister, Kostas Simitis, in the meeting held Friday with Albanian Foreign Minister Paskal Milo, stressed the complete readiness of the Greek party to continue the improvement and boosting of bilateral relations in all fields. The meeting also discussed the visit of Greek Premier in Albania, which is expected in October 15.

    Later on, Albanian Foreign Minister met with Greek President Kostis Stefanopulos, who invited his Albanian counterpart, Rexhep Meidani, for a visit in Athens within the first six months of 1998.

    The Albanian Foreign Minister, in the meeting with the Greek Speaker, Apostolos Kaklamanis, discussed on the necessity of accelerating the ratification of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, signed in March last year in Tirana. The Greek senior official confirmed that the Treaty will be soon discussed in Parliament, and defined as deadline of its entering into force March of next year./kled/mt/sh/

    [04] GREECE GIVES ALBANIA 2 MILLIARD DRACHMAS IN AID FOR REORGANIZATION OF ADMINISTRATION - From Pangallos - Milo meeting

    TIRANA, SEPT 13 (ATA) - By Odise Grillo: Albania's Foreign Minister Paskal Milo, during his visit in Greece, met with his Greek counterpart Theodoros Pangallos. At the end of the meeting and during the news conference, Pangallos, gave to the Albanian chief of diplomacy a check worth 2 milliard drachmas in aid for the organization of the Albanian administration.

    "We will give a credit at total value of 18 milliard drachmas, on which both parties have to agree for concrete works, proposed by the Albanian government and we agreed on principle. There are still to be explained the conditions for the delivery of these credits, said Pangallos regarding the economic cooperation.

    Law should act in both sides of the border, said the Greek Minister regarding the cooperation between the two counterpart ministries of order and defence and added that Greece will help Albania restructure its armed forces.

    Albania's Chief of the Army General Staff is expected to hold a visit in Greece.

    With regard to the inter-border cooperation, Pangallos reported that constructions in the Greek land continue regarding the three border check points in Qafe Bote, Tri Urat and Sajade.

    The Albanian Minister considered the decision of Greek Council of Ministers for the legalization of the Albanian emigrants as a concrete aid for Albania in this difficult period.

    During his stay in Greece, Milo also met with leaders of Greek parliamentary parties and with domestic businessmen. He called on the businessmen, who interrupted their investments due to the unrest that swept Albania, to return, and guaranteed that the new government provides safety./a.ke/kled/mt/sh/

    [05] MOURNING CEREMONY OF ALBANIAN NOBELIST MOTHER TERESA HELD IN CALCUTTA

    TIRANA, SEPT 13 (ATA) - By J Zaloshnja: The mourning ceremony of the Albanian Nobelist, Mother Teresa, was held Saturday in Calcutta in the presence of some 9 million people, senior political personalities of state and associations from the world.

    The Albanian delegation, headed by President Rexhep Meidani, arrived Friday in India to participate in the mourning ceremony.

    The leader of the Albanian opposition and former President, Sali Berisha, also took part in this ceremony.

    Meanwhile, in Albania, the fatherland of Mother Teresa, people continue to pay tribute to Mother Teresa. A special government commission declared three days of national mourning, as well as a series of ceremonies to honour her.

    The Albanian Nobelist Angje Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Mother Teresa, was born on August 27, 1910 to Albanian parents in Skopje.

    She came to Albania for the first time in 1989./mt/sh/

    RRESHEN, SEPT 13 (ATA) - By Z Pergega: The Albanian Nobelist, Gonxhe Bojaxhiu Mother Teresa, should be our pattern to move forward, the bishop of the diocese in Rreshen, northern Albania, Monsignor Angelo Massafra, told the participants in the mass held Thursday in this town.

    We are proud that this Saint is Albanian, but this is not enough. We should understand the importance of her life and apply the messages she gives, said Massafra. /s.sh/jz/mt/sh/

    TIRANA, SEPT 13 (ATA) - Zeri i Popullit carries the comment of Premier Nano for the support that Europe offers to Albania, under the title "Programs, not money for the offices (of firms.) With regard to the visit of Nano in Brussels, the paper carries the article "Political support, economic support." The paper carries a message of Washington under the title "USA, partner of priority for the Albanian government." The paper publishes the article "Defence Ministry is resolute to extricate the roots of banditry in the Army." Under the title "70 million dollars for Albania," reports the paper regarding the meetings Stephanopulos, Simitis ,Pangalos, Milo in Athens.

    The paper carries the article "EC: More efficacious aid for Albania." The paper also carries the article "The world gives last farewell to the symbol of hope, peace and humanism." ZP publishes the articles "To defend the crime is more than a crime," and "The government to destroy the traffics of Berisha."

    Rilindja Demokratike carries the editorial "Nano: I did not bring money." The paper publishes the article "EU worried about the governmental revenge." The paper also carries the articles "Berisha pays tribute to Mother Teresa in Calcutta," and "No problem in the journey of Berisha to Calcutta." On the third page the paper publishes the article "Physic violence on local government since six months." The paper also reports "Malaj blocks the money of creditors."

    Republika carries the editorial "Mother Teresa fraternized scores of nations, but unfortunately not the Albanians." The paper publishes the articles "Refugees, the closed chapter," and "Contradiction - the daily policy of DP."

    Rilindja carries the article "The nervous atmosphere in Kosova is needed to the occupation power," and "Tens of attacks on the Serbian police stations in Kosova."

    Koha Jone carries the editorial "Neighbouring, not biassed." Another article says that the State Secretary in the Interior Ministry, Ndre Legisi, accuses the police of Vlore of helping Zani to escape (the head of a gang in Vlore.) The paper carries the article "The meeting of Rome is fixed in October 22," and "Greece: 63 other millions for Albania." The paper publishes the article "100 000 workers risk the pension."

    Albania carries the editorial "The policy connected with the crime," and "National reconciliation and the complex of fault." The paper also reports "Zani escapes with the help of the state," and "Rinas in the hands of traffickers (The Brokaj clan leads the traffic of illegal emigrants.) The paper carries the article "After the change of diplomatic passports, the bandits replaced the politicians."

    Gazeta Shqiptare reports on six killed yesterday due to attacks of armed gangs in Elbasan," and "IMF - 15 000 Albanians on streets."

    [08] MOTHER TERESA INCARNATED VIRTUES ALBANIANS ARE PROUD OF - Father Liolin

    TIRANA, SEPT. 13 (ATA) - Mother Teresa incarnated during her life all the virtues we Albanians are proud of, said Father Arthur Liolin, Archbishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church in the U.S.A.

    "Mother Teresa always conceded her Albanian origin and tried to be in touch with Albanians whenever her beneficent duties and loving human presence brought her in contact with us," he said.

    Her origin made her a special person and the setting up of some charity foundations in her motherland are a particular and excellent contribution to Albania. ssh/jz/ak/k

    [09] 129 ALBANIAN EMIGRANTS RETURNED FROM ITALY SINCE FRIDAY

    DURRES, SEPT. 13 (ATA) - By G. Kabashi: 129 Albanian citizens were returned on Friday evening and Saturday morning to Durres from the city of Bari and Brindisi, Italy.

    "Some 87 Albanians without documents were returned from Italy on Sunday. They were brought to Durres from the ports of Brindisi, Ancona and Bari by "Tirana, "Sansovino", and "La Vikinga" ferries," Luciano Radi, chief controllers of Durres port said to ATA.

    Radi said that the Greek ferry "Artemis" brought early on Saturday 42 Albanians which were turned back by the Italian authorities from the port of Brindisi.

    Those who returned on Saturday have caused damages to the ferry. Some of them have broken the bar trying to get something to eat.

    "They claimed that they have not eaten anything for four days," a sailor of the ferry said.

    The total number of those returned during September is reaching 1,500 people. ssh/kled/ak/k

    [10] SHKODRA PEOPLE PAY LAST TRIBUTES TO MOTHER TERESA

    SHKODER, SEPT. 13 (ATA) - By Myfit Malja: A Mass of Light was said on Saturday in the Catholic Church of Shkodra attended by hundreds of worshipers in honour of Mother Teresa.

    "It is an honour for us Albanians and we should be proud because such a figure has come out of the bosom of the people and until her last day she has been totally devoted to the suffering people. The Albanian people will be proud of this woman who was known around the world," Monseigneur Frano Ilia said.

    Present at the Mass were Prefect of Shkodra Gezim Podgorica, head of the District Council Lorenc Mosi, representatives of religious communities.

    Hundreds and hundreds of citizens paid homages in front of the photo of this woman with great heart placed at the sisters' house.

    Mother Teresa visited for the first time the city of Shkodra in 1993 with Pope Giovani Pavli II and both took part in the ordaining of the Albanian senior clergies. ake/kei/ak/k

    [11] IDEA OF AGREEMENT ON TRANSIT PASSAGE THROUGH ALBANIAN-GREEK BORDER LAUNCHED

    TIRANA, SEPT. 13 9ATA)- By E. Allushi, The idea of signing an agreement for a transit passage of the population on both sides of the Albanian-Greek border, up to 20 km, has been launched during a three-day visit of Albanian Foreign Minister Paskal Milo to Greece.

    This was confirmed during a brief news conference by Mr. Milo at Rinas Airport on Saturday.

    In the context of the intensification of relations between Albania and Greece and of a comprehensive aid pledged by the Greek State, the signing of this agreement will also enable concrete cooperation between the populations living in the border areas.

    In principle, the said agreement has to do with the free movement of citizens and goods on both sides of the border. a.ke/kei/lm/k
