  • [01] Team of Swiss military experts visits Albania

    TIRANE, July 5 (ATA)-By E.Koraqi, A team of Swiss military team, experts in the field of destroying chemical agents, arrived in Tirane on Monday.

    The three-day visit of the Swiss team, composed of six high experts of this field consists in discussing issues regarding mass destruction weapons.

    The Swiss experts, along with the Albanian experts, will examine the regions where the chemical agents in the possession of the army are stored as well as the possible regions of placing the installations for destroying these agents. /lh/lm/

    [02] New Marshall Plan can get Albania out of difficult situation

    TIRANE, July 5(ATA)-The France-Albania Friendship parliamentary group has sent a letter to President of the Republic Rexhep Meidani, according to the President's press office.

    "We are conscious of your difficult task in serving a country facing a political and economic crisis, to which was added the influx of the Kosova refugees.

    We agree with your analysis: Only the realisation of a new Marshall Plan can get Albania, at the end of the conflict, out of this difficult situation to find its place in the European system".

    At the end of the letter, the head of the group, Georges Sarre, assures the President of the Republic of support in the fold of the French National Assembly. /lh/lm/

    [03] Two policemen arrested for injuring their colleagues

    SARANDE, July 5 (ATA)-By Sh. Hajno, Two policemen of the Sarande district police station were arrested on Monday.

    Official sources from the Vlore Prefecture Police department reported that they, in collaboration with one another, injured two policemen at a restaurant in the suburbs of Sarande city on July 4.

    The same sources say that they have committed the crime for personal motives.

    After this act, the two police workers, by special order, were relieved of their duties in the military structures.

    On Sunday, by order of the Public Order Minister, Spartak Poci, the the chief of the Sarande district police commissariat, Lieutenant-Colonel Agron Roka, was dismissed from office. /pas/lm/

    [04] Agreement signed between New World Telecom and Alb Telecom

    TIRANE, July 5 (ata) - By D.Koça - The Alb Telecom and the big American company, New World Telecom, have created a joint venture to offer mobile telecommunication services in Albania and transmit wireless electronic data after state-of-the-art technology.

    The deal for setting up this joint venture was signed by the director of Alb Telecom, Dhimitraq Rafti, and the Director of New World Telecom, Ahmed Saaed. Also present at the ceremony was Prime Minister Pandeli Majko.

    The agreement was made public at a news conference on Monday.

    Acfcording to ti, New World Telecom owns 75% of shares in the joint venture and Alb Telecom 25%. Saeed said that the investment of New World Telecom amounts to US$ 300 million and will be carried out a ten-year period.

    Two thirds of this investment will address fix telephone service and one third mobile telephone service. The investment will start right from the moment the Albanian Government receives license and the moment AMC is liberlised.

    Saeed said that New World Telecom will employ some 2000 Albanian workers in this joint venture this operation is now underway.

    New World Telecom foresees to offer telephones at "reasonable prices" for all Albanian society strata. /pas/Na/

    [05] Shehu says DP Convention should vote Berisha's confidence

    TIRANE, July 5 (ATA)-Tritan Shehu, former chairman of the Democratic Party, told ATA that the DP Emergency Convention should vote, before the National Council of this party, chairman Sali Berisha, himself, as regards the approach to Parliament.

    "The confidence of this body cannot be voted before the party leader, who is the main person responsible for DP's final boycott of Parliament, a decision which caused great damage to this party," said Shehu, who has opposed the decision of the council for boycotting parliament since the beginning.

    Voting the confidence of the National Council by the Emergency Convention, due on July 8, according to Shehu, is likely to bring about crisis within this party.

    DP deputy chairman Genc Pollo, as to whether the DP Emergency Convention would vote the confidence of the National Council, has earlier declared that "everything is possible, but I don't think there will be surprises". /lm/

    [07] Landmines kill one child and injure another

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA)-By U. Bajrami, A 12-year-old child was killed and another nine-year old was seriously injured after the denotation of two landmines near the border, Kukes district, on Monday evening.

    Children Urim Haxhia and Rasim Peca from Shishavec of this district stepped on an area mined by the Serb military forces, according to sources from the Public Order Ministry, which add that Peca is now in hospital and his state is not life threatening.

    Five people have been killed and 22 others injured by mines in the northeastern area of the country over the past days. Around 22 hectares of land have been mined by the Serb military forces in the Has area alone. /pas/lm/

    [08] Macedonian soldier surrenders to Albanian border post

    TIRANE, July 6(ATA)- By U. Bajrami, A Macedonian soldier, maltreated, surrendered himself to Albanian authorities at the Stebleve border post, Librazhd district, eastern Albania, on Monday.

    The Public Order Ministry press office told ATA that a Macedonian soldier crossed the border post sector of Stebleve on Monday by midday.

    The same source said that the Macedonian soldier, whose name is not disclosed, surrendered himself to the Albanian authorities of this border post. He pretends to have carried out this act after being maltreated by his border post officer.

    Efforts to throw light on the event are underway. /pas/lm/

    [09] Albania fulfilling commitments as CE member country

    TIRANE, July 5 (ATA)-By A. Gjakova, The fulfilment of Albania's commitments as a member country of the Council of Europe was at the centre of the talks held between deputy speaker of Albanian Parliament Namik Dokle and the rapporteurs' group of the CE Monitoring Committee, headed by deputy Sole Tura.

    Dokle stressed that the most of protocols and conventions signed have been ratified, according to the Assembly's press office.

    "With the solution of the crisis in Kosova, the political tensions at home have been eased and with DP's return to parliament, soon, the relations will be institutionalised with it, as the need of the opposition in Parliament is really felt, to realise politics in institutions and not on streets," said Dokle.

    Tura said that "Albania is not like six months ago" and considered DP's return to parliament important for the democratic processes. /pas/lm/

    [10] DP Emergency Convention put off

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA)-By A. Haxhiu, The Democratic Party's Emergency Convention, scheduled for July 8, will be held on July 11.

    The reasons for the postponement are simply technical, according to DP's press and information office.

    The Emergency convention of the DP is expected to decide on the return on this party to Parliament, from which it withdrew in August 1998, a boycott which was then considered final.

    Precisely for this decision, taken earlier by the DP National Council, the idea has been launched for the Convention to vote the confidence of this high body of the party. Alongside several members of this council, the DP deputy chairman, Genc Pollo, has not expressed himself against this idea. /pas/lm/

    [11] NATO French forces to contribute to improvement of infrastructure

    LIBRAZHD, July 6 (ATA)-By M. Lulja, A part of NATO French Forces deployed in the region of Kraste in Elbasan will be accommodated in the camp of Togez in Librazhd (Eastern Albania) after the departure of Kosovars and will contribute to the improvement of the city's infrastructure.

    The secretary of Elbasan town-hall, Shaban Kercimi, said that 1 500 Kosovars have left this camp, which holds 2000 people.

    Initially they are adjusting the camps' ground, while later will reconstruct the Librazhd-Tokez road axis as well as will repair several buildings in the city.

    The Tokez camp will be another location of the NATO forces in the prefecture of Elbasan. /pas/lm/

    [12] 250 000 ECU for Project "Education in Distance"

    TIRANE, June 6 (ata)- By P.Shuteriqi - The aid Albania benifits from "Education in Distance" project, in the frame of Phare Program, amounts to 250 000 ECU. Sources from National Center of "Education in Distance" founded in Albania in '94 told ATA of this, due to a pilot project of Phare Program.

    This project is in its second phase in Albania and will include even Tirana and Shkodra University paralell to the Politechnic University.

    There are some 100 students in the Politechnic university actually that develop courses in electronic engeneering and telecomunication, in the meantime a new coarse on managing production is ready to start.

    The coarses are an adaption to the Italian system, for a three year period.

    [13] AFOR and private companies to improve Albania's infrastructure

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA)-By E. Koraqi, AFOR and the private companies have undertaken to improve various road axes in Albania, Helge Eriksen, the spokesman of the AFOR headquarters, told ATA on Tuesday.

    "Our performance at these moments is concentrated on the refugee return plan, but we are not neglecting the initiated plans for adjusting infrastructure in Albania," said Eriksen.

    Eriksen said that between AFOR and the private companies, which have won bids on road adjustment, separate contracts have been assigned which envisage the rehabilitation of the most important road segments.

    "We will complete works on schedule. AFOR will improve precisely the road segments envisaged in the contracts", he said.

    The agreement signed between John Reith, AFOR forces' Commander, and Ingrid Shuli, Minister of Public Works and Transport, stipulates the rehabilitation by NATO of the Durres-Kukes roads, the access roads to Rinas airport, Durres port and other roads. The agreement will be realised by NATO through a fund of $50 million. /s.s/lm/

    [14] Public Health takes measures to prevent summer deseases

    TIRANE, July 6 (ata)- R. Xhuvani -The Public Health Ministry is taking measures to cope with high temperatures of this summer which affects directly to the increase of health problems, especially to the children, said for ata, Atrur Rada, spokesman for this Ministry.

    On Tusday, the ministry has ordered all of Public Health directories in towns to open rehydration centers near ambulancy institutions.

    "For this purpose, in close cooperation with UNCHEF, are taken all measures to provide the towns with the needed suplies for the hydratation centers to start functioning, said Rada."

    [15] General High Schools to be accorded 250 computers

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA) - By P.Shuteriqi: General High Schools and some of the professional schools of the capital are to be equipped with computers and the necessary laboratories for the academic year 1999- 2000.

    "Som 250 computers are given so far only to the general high schools, while 60 others are to be accorded to the professional schools", the Director of general high schools close to the Ministry of Education and Science, Rexhep Çuko, told ATA on Tuesday.

    "Soros" Foundation was the main sponsor of the project regarding the computer delivery, and it made possible as well the training of 200 teachers. /pas/A.A/

    [16] Four persons gravely wounded due to mine blasts in Tropoje

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA) - By U.Bajrami: Four persons remained wounded while they were traveling in a village of Tropoje, situated near the border.

    According to the sources of Public Order Ministry the event happened at about 14:30 on Monday.

    Fatmir Dylsufi, Petrit Haxhia, Jetmir Kernaja and Kreshnik Metalia, all from Tropoje district, were traveling by car from the village Kernaje towards Bajram Curri city. The four citizens were gravely wounded due to a mine explosion settled in the road the car was traveling. They were immediately send to the hospital, and are actually out of the life danger.

    A 12-year old child died and another was badly wounded on Monday in Kukes due to a mine blast in a village of Kukes. /pas/A.A/

    [17] All Kosovars accommodated in Devolli district repatriated

    BILISHT, July 7 (ATA) - By B.Fejzullai: All Kosovars accommodated during the last months in Devolli district left for their Motherland.

    The last contingent of 600 Kosovars parted on Monday and on Tuesday in an organized way towards Kukes. They were transported by the vehicles of Korçe military division.

    Training were held with Kosove war refugees by NATO members on protection of themselves against mines.

    The number of expelled war refugees accommodated during the last months in Devolli district is estimated to be about 1200.

    The evacuation of Kosovars by NATO planes from Lumasi airport has continued even today. According to the leaders of UNCHR in this region, the evacuation of Kosove refugees settled in Korçe region will be over within 10-12 days. /pas/A.A/

    [18] French Foundation for Local Reconstruction and Development in Balkan created

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA) - By E.Nepravishta: The New Foundation created by the Financial Group "Caisse des Depot" in cooperation with the French Ministry of Cooperation was introduced in Paris on Monday. The foundation will give its contributions regarding the projects of local governments in Balkan countries.

    Participating in the press conference held in the headquarter of this financial group were the French Minister of Cooperation and Franchphone, Charles Joselin, Albanian ambassador accredited to France, Luan Rama and the Director General of the Group "Caisse des Depot", Daniel Lebeg.

    The projects to be offered by this financial group have to do with the infrastructure, delivery of electric energy, hospital construction, schools, reforms of the local government and others, Albanian embassy in Paris told ATA on Tuesday.

    Taking part in the meeting was also the President of Albanian Development Fund (ADF), Maksim Mitrojorgji, who signed the agreement drafted in the framework of cooperation between these two institutions.

    A French mission will visit Albanian soon to identify other projects besides those identified by ADF. The projects will be made with a special fund, and will be supported by several donors. /pas/A.A/

    [19] Two Macedonian companies are constructing three segments of corridor 8

    Tirana, July 6 (ata) - By D.Koca - " Corridor 8 will develop all Balkan regions and with the end of Kosova crisis this corridor takes a special importance", said Minister Shuli during the meeting held on Tuesday in Tirana with the Macedonian Minister of Economy Mihailo Tolevski.

    At the moment two Macedonian companies are working in three segments of Corridor 8. Mavrovo company is operating in the segment Librazhd-Qukes, while Granit company is working in the segments' Lushnje-Rrogozhina and Qukes-Qafe Thane.

    Minister Shuli asked the Minister Tolevski for a close cooperation in airline transport and for the presence of the Macedonian airline companies in Albania. She stressed that the initiate on protecting the environment of Ohri lake financed by KfW should be carried further in order to support the tourism development in both countries.

    Minister Tolevski asked for the presence of the Macedonian constructive companies in Albania, whose quality is of high level. /pas/linda/

    [20] Albanian Government to draft Program of Priority Projects

    Tirana, July 6 (ATA) - By Elton Metaj - Albania Government started the discussions on "The Program of the priority needs on economic development of the country", in the framework of the Stability Pact.

    A special meeting of the the Council of Minister is held on Monday afternoon led by the Prime Minister Pandeli Majko about "The primary needs of the economic development of the country in the frame work of the stability Pact".

    At the beginning of the discussion the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Commerce Ermelinda Meksi presented in general lines the first draft of this Program.

    Prime Minister Pandeli Majko asked for a maximal work by all the Ministries aiming at presenting a clear and detailed strategy in Sarajevo Summit, to be hold next month.

    He talked about the work efficiency of the state administrate.

    Prime Minister Majko asked all the Ministries to complete the analysis of the half period of 1999 on their activities performed during this period within 15.7.1999. /pas/linda/

    [21] Telecommunication: Green light is opened for agreement implementation

    Tirana, July 6 (ATA) - By Elton Metaj - The decision "About a change in the decision of the Council of Ministers "About the approval of the Document of the Policies on the development of the telecommunication sector in Republic of Albania" is passed in the meeting of the Council of Minister.

    This change will be done to adapt the respective legislation with the agreement signed between the" New World Telecommunications" and "Albtelecom" in rural telecommunication field, mobiles and satellite services.

    In order to make possible the agreement implementation on establishing a joint company, the Albanian Government passed the decision, according to which 75% of the share-certificates of the joint enterprise to be covered by "New World Telecom" and 25% by "Albtelekom". /pas/linda/

    [22] Majko says the economic development is now a priority

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA) - By E.Nepravishta: "The situation in Albania has positively changed. After the solution of Kosove crisis, the Albanian government is hardly working for drafting of a new development strategy, in which the economic reform, investments and business in general will have the main priorities", said Albanian Premier, Pandeli Majko, during a meeting he held on Tuesday with representatives of the American-Greek Chamber of Commerce.

    The spokesman of the Premier told ATA on Tuesday that Majko gave full guarantees in the name of the government he leads for creation of conditions for an open cooperation in the investment field.

    "We are ready to give an immediate response to all the new realities which can be created with the implementation of the Pact of Stability in the South-eastern Europe", said Majko who added that possibilities will be created to the delegation, through contacts with cabinet members, to get acquainted with the Albanian economic reality.

    The representatives of American-Greek Chamber of Commerce is carrying out its work to attract the attention of American Companies for investments in Southeastern Europe, and especially for investments in Albania. /pas/A.A/

    [23] Assistance for institutions by Greek General Consulate in Korce

    KORCE, July 6 (ata) - By B Fejzullai: The Greek General Consulate in Korce, besides the granting of visas, is also giving concrete assistance to the institutions of this region, said to ATA Lindita Grabocka, spokeswoman of the Consulate.

    She said that the aid for the institutions aims at improving the working conditions and at providing computers for the offices. Assistance has been delivered for the secondary school Raqi Qirinxhi, the eighth form school in Boboshtice, the University Fan S Noli, the offices in the prefecture, the district council, the town-hall and the orphanage.

    The Greek consulate will continue to offer its assistance also to facilitate the movement of citizens and to encourage investments in the region of Korce, in order to help develop the region, stressed the spokeswoman of the consulate. /lh/xh/

    [24] Government is assisting mass media for an accurate information of public - Minister

    TIRANE, July 6 (ata) - By E Nepravishta: "Through legal acts and readiness to provide information, the Albanian Government is trying to assist the local mass media in its efforts for an accurate and serious information of the public," said the Minister of Information Musa Ulqini on Tuesday in a meeting with Council of Europe rapporteurs.

    The Ministry of Information told ATA the that CE rapporteurs pointed out the developments in the Albanian media, especially in the electronic one, and highlighted the efforts being made for a contemporary legislation on this field.

    Later Minister Ulqini made a panorama of the mission of the Information Ministry to realise an open system of communication of the Albanian Government for the media and the public.

    The rapporteurs expressed their considerations for the work made by the Ministry of Information during the situation of emergency for a fast and correct information of the public and mass media. /lh/xh/

    [25] Requirements on using Greek sheltering credit are defined

    Tirana, July 6 (ATA) - By Elton Metaj - Albanian Government opened the green light on using the Greek credit of the value 5 billion drachma, about the sheltering of the families that lost their houses in the pyramidal schemes.

    In the meeting held yesterday, the Albanian Government approved the procedures of defining the families that might profit by this credit.

    The fund distribution according to the districts is based upon the lists drafted by the Local Government till April 30, 1998. There are some 5 000 families that have lost their dwelling houses in the pyramidal schemes and now they are hoping to profit by this credit.

    The credit will be paid back within 25 years with an interest of 9% (in lek) which is equivalent of the interest of 5% of the credit in drachma. The payment of the flat will be done in monthly hire purchase. The condition for signing the contract will be the payment of the first hire purchase of 3% of the flat value.

    The family receiving the credit should have monthly incomes no less than 6.000 lek per head.

    Due to the fact that 90% of the fund of the Greek credit will be used on constructing new dwelling houses, the expenditures on studies and projects for the dwelling areas and the connection with the infrastructure will be payed by the budget of the Albanian State.

    Administrative expenditures for the National Dwelling houses Enterprises and Saving Bank on implementation of this credit will be covered by the reserve fund of the Albanian Government. /pas/linda/

    [26] Direct proxy of fund of 700 million lek

    Tirana, July 6 (ATA) - By E.Metaj - The Fund of some 700 million lek accorded for improving the infrastructure of the following towns Tirana, Elbasani, Shkodra, and Vlora will be used by direct proxy.

    For this aim the Albanian Government approved a special decision, which will make possible the using as soon as possible of the sum of 700 million lek. /pas/linda/

    [27] IMF asks for implementation of the privatization program of strategic sectors

    Tirana, July 6 (ATA) - By M.Pupa - The representative of the International Monetary Fund(IMF) Robert Corker estimated at the meeting with the Minister of Public Economy and Privatization Ylli Bufi the current developing on fulfilling the privatization targets based upon the agreement with IMF.

    "The seven last folders of the small and medium enterprises are closed today", said Minister Bufi.

    IMF representative asked for the implementation of the privatization program of the strategic sectors of the Albanian economy.

    Mr.Cocker was interested even on the measures to be taken by the Albanian Government on "Albpetrol" reconstruction, especially on the plans about the reduction of employees number.

    Minister Bufi said to IMF representative that "Albpetrol" reconstruction will go on. While in September an analysis of the financial situation will be hold, where different measures on further developing of the corporate will be taken. /lh/linda/

    [28] SP Parliamentary Group discuss changes of law on axises

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA) - By Alba Gjakova: The draft-law "On some changes of axises", was one of the most important draft-laws discussed on Tuesday in the meeting of Socialist Part (SP) Parliamentary Group.

    Changes in this draft-law, expected to be discussed on Wednesday during a parliamentary session, are mainly based on the engagement of Albanian Government to become a member of the World Commerce Organization.

    The measure foresees the unification of three tariffs in a single one. It comprises as well the objective of development of the domestic industry.

    According to the chairman of Parliamentary Commission of Economy, Finance and Privatization, Arben Malaj "another objective of these changes is an expected reduction of prices which will positively affect the increase of the volume of custom clearances and reduction of smuggling. /lh/A.A/

    [29] Great evolution of situation since conflict started in Kosova - Premier

    TIRANE, July 6 (ata) - By E Nepravishta: The evolution of the situation since the conflict in Kosova began up to now is very great and new changes are expected to take place in the region, said Albanian Premier Pandeli Majko in a meeting on Tuesday with the rapporteurs of the Council of Europe monitoring commission, Sole Tura and Jerzy Smorawinski.

    Premier Majko's spokesman told ATA that PM Majko responded to the interests of the rapporteurs to know the viewpoints of the Albanian Government for the latest development in the country and the region and to identify the ways and fields where the assistance offered by CE would continue.

    "We hope that after nearly one year, parliamentary elections will be held in Kosova, in the mean time work is going on to build the democratic institutions there," aid Majko. He stressed that the Albanian Government is working in the spirit of the objectives of the Pact of Stability for Southeastern Europe, being interested in a close cooperation with the neighbouring countries.

    PM Majko said he believed that the participation of the Democratic party in the Parliament would have a considerable influence also on the legislative reform, which will give more space to the local government.

    "We think that this reform will be over before elections for the local government are made the coming year," said Majko, underscoring that over the period of the conflict, the Albanian Government has managed to create brilliant relations with local government. /pas/xh/

    [30] Intensive weeks for deminig of Kosove

    TIRANE, July 6 (ATA) - By G.Dilaveri: The campaign on demining will be intensified during this week with the settling of deminig teams of UN Organization and NGO-s in the Central and Western Kosove.

    Seven teams of the German agency HELP are actually working in Prishtine, Uroshevac and Gjilan, while the UN Organization specialists are carrying a quick investigation of the dangerous regions, UNCHR office in Tirane told ATA on Tuesday.

    The regions with more priority are Pristina, Uroshavec, Prizereni, Suva Reka, Gjakova, Pela, Podujeva, Mitrovica, Gjilan and Gllobovci.

    Deminig process will be carried out in the support of he repatriation plan, with which UNHCR is charged. Some 40 accidents are encountered only during the last week. /lh/A.A/

    [31] 1 million drachmas for sport grounds in Livadhja from Albania's Autochephalous Orthodox Church

    SARANDE, July 6 (ata) - By Sh Hajno: The Autochephalous Orthodox Church of Albania financed the construction of the sport grounds in the centre of the commune of Livadhja, 27 km from Saranda.

    According to the chairman of the commune, Vangjel Anagnosti, its was the direct interest of the Arch Bishop of Tirane, Durres and all Albania, Janullatos, that the sports ground be constructed following the damage caused with the construction of a new church in a part of its site.

    Anagnosti said that the field for which the Church funded 1 million drachmas, was built by a local firm, Kalivjoti.

    The commune of Livadhja groups 18 villages of mostly Greek ethnic composition. /lh/xh/

    [32] Albanian Centre for Human Rights plans establishment of analogous offices in Kosova

    TIRANE, July 6 (ata) - By Eva Londo: "The Albanian Centre for Human Rights is planning to open analogous offices in two cities of Kosova, in Pristine and Prizren," said on Tuesday to ATA Kozara Kati, chairwoman of the Centre.

    The Centre to be set up in these two cities will first cooperate with the "Albanian Centre of Human Rights" and after they will take a clear physiognomy, they will function as a separate centre.

    The Albanian Centre for Human Rights is founded in 1993 with financial support of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and later of the Norwegian non-governmental organizations NOVIB and BILANCE. Its activity is focused during these years on the recognition and meaning of human rights in the Albanian society.

    It has been very active both during the period of the political crisis of 1997 and the crisis caused by Kosova refugees. /lh/xh/

    [33] New era opened for Balkan countries - Milo

    TIRANE, July 6 (ata) - By I Luto: Albanian Foreign Minister Paskal Milo said on Tuesday in a meeting with the visiting rapporteurs of the Council of Europe Monitoring Commission that the conflict in Kosova, besides the aftermath payed by the neighbours, had but one good aspect - the opening of a new era for the Balkan countries in the road of regional cooperation.

    Minister Milo said that although different states adopted different approaches during the conflict, it is high time 'to come to terms' for the reconstruction of our region.

    The press department of the foreign ministry said that the meeting of Minister Milo with the CE rapporteurs focused on the consequences that the Kosova crisis caused in Albania and on the relations with the neighbouring countries.

    Mr Milo mentioned in this context the work the Albanian Government is making to figure out the most important questions that demand immediate solution in the context of the Pact of Stability for Southeastern Europe.

    CE rapporteurs stressed that cooperation between Albania and CE will continue intensively also in the future. /lh/xh/

    [34] Albanian Parliament Speaker to take part in session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

    TIRANE, July 6 (ata) - The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Skender Gjinushi, left on Tuesday for San Petersburg to take part in the regular session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly at the invitation of the Parliamentary president, Helle Degn.

    As the Parliament spokesman reported, a debate will be held in the session on the developments in Kosova, its political and economic reconstruction. Mr Gjinushi too is expected to address the meeting.
