[02] Pullution level from plants gas increases

ELBASAN, Dec. 25 (ata) - By M Lulja: The discharge of gases from the plants in the metallurgical combine and the cement factory have increased the level of pollution in the city of Elbasan, said on Sunday the chairwoman of the regional environment agency, Shpresa Banja.

For her, the level of environmental pollution has amounted to 75-80 per cent from 50-52 per cent it was previously.

According to a study by this agency, the pollution of the environment comes from the plants of iron-chrome, steel, carbon and the cement factory in which the filters used to clean their gases before spreading in the atmosphere, have been lacking.

For the solution of this problem, Banja says that these plants must as soon as possible finish the projects for the gas treatment facilities. So far, according to her, only the cement factory has presented the project and in January these projects are expected to be completed also by the plants in the metallurgical combine. /lh/xh/
