 Visit of the President of Romania to BrazilThe President of Romania had talks in Rio de Janeiro with the governor of that state and with the president of the federation of industrialists of the region, a federation which rallies 16,000 companies.The President also attended the opening of the debates of the economic seminar BRASIL - ROMANIA an occasion for him to stress the fact that Romania could be a gate for Brazil's penetration of Central Europe, the Balkan Peninsula and Central Asia, RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI transmits.
 Visit of the Lord Mayor of London to BucharestGreat Britain supports adherence of Romania to the European Union and wishes to grant Bucharest assistance in the process of preparations for accession said Lord Mayor of London Alderman Clive Martin when he met with the Prime Minister of Romania, Mugur Isarescu.
Lord Mayor of the city of London also said he wanted to identify those economic domains in which Great Britian could support Romania concretely. The guest said that the Prime Minister is welcomed in London for a visit with the aim of attracting new investments in Romania, quotes a communique of the Government of Romania which RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI is in its turn mentioning.
 British Embassay in Bucharest hosts reunionOn Monday the Hilton Hotel of the city of Bucharest hosted a reunion with the British Ambassador Richard Ralph in attendance and having as guests of honor the Lord Mayor of London Alderman Clive Martin and the counselor of the Bank of England Simon Gray. The speakers underlined the significance of London as an international money and business center as well as the ways and means by which Great Britain could support Romania to become a member of the European Union. The conclusion of the reunion is that Romania should be a member of the European Union and that belonging to this organization should not have negative impact on the economy of Romania, meaning monetary union in the first place.
 CALENDARPresident Emil Constantinescu continues official visit to Brazil. Today he has talks with President Fernando Enrique Cardoso and he also has meetings with the governor of the Federal District. In the evening the President of Romania attends the reunion of the presidents of the federations of industrialists of Brazil.
Home Minister Constantin Dudu Ionescu in the name of the Government of Romania and the French Ambassador to Romania Pierre Menat, in the name of the Government of France, sign the documents sanctioning the logistic support granted by the French National Gendarmerie to the creation of the Application School of the Romanian Gendarmerie here in Bucharest.
Ioan Mircea Plingu, secretary of state with the Ministry of National Defense is now on a working visit to China.
