NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic and president of the Chamber for Human Rights in the Dayton Bosnia, Peter Germen, came to an agreement in Banjaluka concerning the practical cooperation in coping with all issues in the framework of this legislative organisation, founded on March 15, 1996 under Annex 6 of the Dayton agreement. Germen stated for SRNA that he was "deeply confident about the cooperativeness of RS authorities in dealing with sensible issues such as the human rights protection".

SARAJEVO - In the National Museum in Sarajevo, members of the B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, Alija Izetbegovic and Kresimir Zubak signed at about 2000 hrs the Statement on principles of work of the joint institutions. Krajisnik signed the statement on the work of joint institutions. High representative Carl Bildt, confirmed that the places of the next two meetings were agreed to according to principles of work. President Krajisnik stated that "today's agreement is a contribution to peace and a wish that peace takes a hold".

SARAJEVO - Work of the joint institutions of the Dayton B-H will be founded on the principles of equality between RS and the B-H Federation and three constituent peoples, on mutual tolerance, respect and cooperation in carrying out all obligations under the peace accords, says the joint statement of the Presidency members of the Dayton B-H, signed in Sarajevo. In the statement, signed by Momcilo Krajisnik, Kresimir Zubak and Alija Izetbegovic, it stands that Presidency members of the Dayton B-H agreed to the future engagements in the work of joint bodies.

LONDON - The RS Government vice-president, Velibor Ostojic, stated that the postponement of the local elections in the Dayton B-H was not a surprise, "but what is astonishing is the series of postponements, from presidential, parliamentarian, to the local elections, postponed for the second time now". "This postponement of the local elections shows that those elections should not have been postponed at all", said Ostojic for the BBC service in Serbian.

SARAJEVO - The former prime minister and current mandator, Gojko Klickovic, assessed that the work of a new government - which composition is to be verified on November 10 - would be more complex than the work of the previous one. After his meeting with former prime ministers Vladimir Lukic and Dusan Kozic, president of the Serb Academy Science and Art, Petar Mandic, and the head of the Serb Sarajevo Faculty of Economy Vaso Dragojevic, Klickovic stressed that "the phase of work in conditions of immediate war thereat is over".

SARAJEVO - The Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) HQ, announced that the B-H Federation did not allow the inspection teams from Republika Srpska (RS) and FR Yugoslavia to enter the Federation territory. "The RS and Yugoslav inspection teams were awaited by the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) members at the RS-Federation border, who told them that Muslim representatives refused inspection of their units in their territory", says the communique.

PRIJEDOR - The president of the Prijedor Municipal Board of the Serbian Radical Party (RS), Miodrag Deretic, stated that the Muslims in Sanski Most formed their Police an other municipal authorities, which, in case of Muslim victory at the local elections they would transfer to Prijedor.

SARAJEVO - President of the Arbitration Commission for the Inter-Entity Boundary Line in the Brcko Area, Roberts Oven, talked in Sarajevo with Kresimir Zubak, member of the B-H Presidency, and vice-president of the Corat-Muslim Federation, Ejup Ganic. Muslim Radio-Sarajevo revealed no information from the meeting, but reported that Ganic asked for a speeded up arbitration, insisting upon the city of Brcko to be the arbitration subject.

BEOGRAD - The non-governmental organisation "Veritas" from Belgrade lodged the protest to UN, UNHCR and UN Observing Mission Offices in Sarajevo and the Hague Tribunal in Belgrade because of the renewed arrests of the Serbs from the Republic of the Srpska Krajina in Croatia.
