NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The Government of Republika Srpska /RS/ at the last night's session in Pale, presided by the president Gojko Klickovic adopted the Draft of Budget and Draft bill on execution of Budget of RS for 1997, which in the form of draft will be given for the assembly procedure. The information about status and problems of demobilised soldiers, families of killed soldiers and war veterans, accommodation of refugees and displaced persons in RS and optimal use of resources, as well as to date negotiations with the international financial organisations, were accepted.

SARAJEVO - The ministry for refugees and displaced persons of RS made the Information about the arrangements of refugees and displaced persons in RS and optimal use of resources, on the basis of extensive researches recently realised on its initiative by the Institute of the Economic Faculty in Serbian Sarajevo. In the information, considered at the last night's session of the Government, is displayed the datum that according the census from March 1996 in RS was 132.298 families, or 419,879 persons who were forced to move from the previous place of residence, which represents more than one third of total population of RS. The greatest number of refugees and displaced persons are placed in regions of Banja Luka, Sarajevo- Romanija-Birac, Ozren-Posavina and Sana-Una.

BANJA LUKA - The Serbian intellectual forum /SIF/ from Banja Luka greets the signing the Agreement on establishing the special parallel relations between RS and FR Yugoslavia /FRY/ and assesses it as the first step in realising the will of the Serbian people for the mutual connections in all fields. SIF highlights that "this agreement arouses the hope for the future equal treatment of the Serbian people in B&H, which provides the conditions for lasting peace and stability in the region and chance for including in the European integrations".

KOTOR VAROS - The signing the Agreement on the special parallel connections between RS and FRY has the full support of the population in the municipalities under the mountain Vlasic, Kotor VAros and Knezevo. The delegate of the Serbian Democratic Party Milorad Kuzmic stated for SRNA that the "signing the Agreement is the historical act which represent the beginning of destroying of all the borders which divided Serbian people in two Serbian states.

DOBOJ - The executive board of the municipal assembly Doboj required from the competent institutions of RS to help in marking the inter-entity demarcation line eastwards from Doboj, which Moslems illegally inhabited in the settlement Hodzici, in border area, are hindering. At the session was concluded that until the finishing the regular marking the demarcation line, the inhabiting of Moslems in this region should be forbidden.

ZAGREB - The ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Croatia announced the opening of the diplomatic agency in Banja Luka - reports AFP citing the Croatia press agency HINA. The Croatian chief of diplomacy Mate Granic acquainted with this intention the Banja Luka's bishop Franjo Komarica, too.

BELGRADE - The president of the Serbian Renewal Movement Vuk Draskovic stated that the representatives of the Coalition "Zajedno" will not go for the consultations with the mandatory of the Federal Government Radoje Kontic. "We received Mr. Kondic's invitation, but we shall behave as we did not, because we require from president Milosevic to accept fully the report of the Gonzales' Mission, to lift the media blockade, at the round table to agree with the representatives of the parliamentary opposition about the conditions for impending the republican presidential and parliamentary elections." - said Draskovic.

BERLIN - The German intelligence service BND in the regions of RS and B&H federation from 1993 used "the neutral monitoring mission of EU for spying, and in the transportation of humanitarian aid sent the weapons to Moslems", claims the Radio BDR from Koln in the programming "Monitor". The Radio BND claims that at least five times the German spies - officials of BND, used the humanitarian convoys to deliver ammunition and weapons to Moslems", as in the example of Bihac.

BONN - The new U.S. Defence Secretary William Cohen warned will surely leave the RS and FB&H in the middle of 1998, even in case that "the peace fail, and Moslems, Serbs and Croats start the new war". "If the people in B&H choose the option of nonkeeping peace - it will be their option, but if the argument that "they are behind each others necks" then we shall stay their several decades" - reiterated Mr. Cohen the warning given in the first month of work as the Defence Secretary.

TIRANA - The armed resurgent in the South Albanian port Valona are ready for fighting against army - reports AFP quoting the statements of witnesses from the centre of rebellion against the official authorities. Last night, according the same source, in Valona shootings were heard, and in its streets is walking big group of rebels shouting against the president of Albania Sally Berisha and Government. Many citizens are escaping from the city, which shops are empty.

BRUSSELLS - The well informed persons about the situation on Balkans are scared that the clashes in Albania could be extended on Kosovo, Macedonia and Greece. On the Flanders Radio the eminent journalists and historians expressed the fear that the situation in Albania could easily explode and turn into the civil war, which would, they believe, first economically and politically, and then in security endanger the peace in the neighbouring countries.

SARAJEVO - Unknown persons had thrown the explosive device on the Catholic Church of St. Josip in the centre of Sarajevo - reports AFP citing the information of the local police. The explosion made great material detriment on church and cars besides it.
