NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, talked in Banjaluka with British ambassador to Sarajevo, Charles Crawford, about the conclusions from the session of the Steering Board of the Military Committee for Implementation of the Dayton Agreement, held in Sintra. Plavsic and Crawford discussed the work of joint B-H institutions, and referred to obstacles which should be removed for their normal functioning, says a press release from RS Presidential Cabinet.

SARAJEVO - The president from RS in the B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik talked in Pale with deputy charge d'affarires of the US Embassy in Sarajevo, Michael Parmly about the implementation of conclusions on issues raised during the visit of the US secretary of state Madlen Albright to RS and B-H Federation. While assessing the talks as positive, Parmly expressed his hope for an accelerated implementation of agreements achieved.

TREBINJE - At consultations in Trebinje, heads of local electoral commissions and Herzegovina teams for registration were informed by the representatives of the OSCE Office in Trebinje of changes in the rules for registration, made by the Provisional Electoral Commission. Due to numerous problems on the field, there was a need for mutual up-dating of the local electoral commissions and OSCE, which should result in larger voters turnout, which is in this part of RS slightly above 50% of constituency.

VISEGRAD - The voters registration in Visegrad, Cajnice, Rudo, Rogatica and Srpsko Gorazde, where the determined rules were not breached, is satisfactory - this was assessed at the seminary of the representatives of local electoral commissions.

SARAJEVO - SFOR is worried about reports of RS media about the event at SFOR's check point in Tizine, when SFOR troops checked RS vice-president Dragoljub Mirjanic, stated SFOR spokesman, Chris Raily, at a press conference in Lukavica. "SFOR must set up check points in order to carry out its tasks. Vice-president Mirjanic sent a letter to SFOR officials regarding this event, but the content of the letter differs from that revealed by journalists", stated Raily.

THE HAGUE - Branislava Isailovic, counsel for Dragan Opancic, who gave false testimony in the process against Dusan Tadic, filled an appeal against the decision of the Hague Tribunal Chamber to return her client to the custody of B-H Federation, because of justifiable fear that the Muslims will continue mistreating him. In a communique from the Hague Tribunal, it stands that the in explanation of her May 30 appeal, Branislava Isailovic says her client fears from mistreating in Muslim prison because of his nationality - his a Serb - and his failure as a prosecution witness in Tadic case.
