NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - In NATO operation, in the village of Grandina, near Prijedor, the former chief of Prijedor police, Simo Drljaca, was killed, and his son and brother-in-low kidnapped. In Prijedor, they evacuated Dr. Mico Kovacevic, Drljaca's body and the kidnapped by helicopter, probably to SFOR base in Ramici. Drljaca's murder, who was not officially listed as indictee for war crimes, indicates the existence of a secret list of indictees. One unnamed British officer said "SFOR has the mandate for such operations".

PRIJEDOR - The Public Security Centre in Prijedor confirmed that SFOR representatives killed the former chief of Prijedor Police, Simo Drljaca and arrested Director of the "Dr Mladen Stojanovic" Medical Centre, Dr Milan Mico Kovacevic. The Centre announced that in the village of Gradina, Near Prijedor, in a simultaneous military operation Drljaca was arrested. "During the action, in which five helicopter were used, Drljaca was brutally kileld, while the fate of his son and son-in-low is not known", says the announcement.

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, sent a letter of protest to SFOR Commander William Crouch because of murder of the former chief of Prijedor Police, Simo Drljaca and the arrest of his associates. In her letter, the RS president said "this act cannot go without consequences in relations between the RS state leadership and SFOR".

SARAJEVO - Regarding the newest developments in Prijedor - arrest, killing and liquidation of RS citizens - the Cabinet of the president in the B-H Presidency from RS, Momcilo Krajisnik, issued the following announcement in which it notes its astonishment and bitterness because of these "unfair operations by foreign armed forces": " It is an urgent priority to point out at those responsible for this crime by international forces, in rode to have them punished by their commands and to do everything to prevent such operations".

SARAJEVO - The CNN TV station reported that NATO action took place in Han Pijesak as well. This was confirmed by British SKY TV.

BIJELJINA - The RS president Biljana Plavsic held a meeting with the RS Army (VRS) General Staff in Bijeljina to discuss enrolment of a new generation of recruits and other issues. The head of the VRS general Staff, general Pero Colic said this was a regular session between the VRS General Staff and RS president.

SARAJEVO - The RS Government formed an experts group for relations with OSCE, charged for local elections to be held in September, to review the relations with OSCE and take a stand towards the position OSCE assumes outside the Dayton provisions.

SARAJEVO - The B-H Council of Ministers cancelled its session in National museum upon Croat proposal. They were to decide on the Law on council of ministers, citizenship, foreign investments and other issues.

ZVORNIK - The Zvornik Public Security Centre in Zvornik refused request by Muslim women, refugees form Srebrenica living in Tuzla, to escort them during their visit to the village of Culic on July 11 and 12. The request was not accepted because it holds one more Muslim provocation, this time Muslim women from Srebrenica want to visit "sites of mass graves".

BANJALUKA - The US Embassy in Sarajevo opened its branch office in Banjaluka, and named Mr. Daniel M. Rhea for the head of the office. The office will cooperate with other Contact Group representatives in Banjaluka, international organisations, the office of high representative and OSCE and SFOR on further implementation of the Dayton agreement.
