NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The Ministry of Information in the Government of Republika Srpska (RS) decided that tomorrow's session of the National Assembly (NS) of RS in Bijeljina will not be directly transmitted by any television station. In the rationale of the decision, which was sign by the Minister of Information Svetlana Siljegovic, it is cited that " no part of Serbian Radio- Television (SRT), because of the current disunity and unsolved arrangement for repeated establishing of this state media, as well as no private television station, are fulfilling conditions for direct transmission of the session of the National Assembly of RS".

BELGRADE - The president of Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Vojislav Kostunica expressed a doubt that tomorrow's constituting of National Assembly of RS will solve current crises. "Our party considers that the tensions in RS could be reduced and the crisis overcome only with simultaneous organising of both parliamentary and presidential elections, thus, mandate of all participants in the dispute would be checked" - explained Kostunica.

SARAJEVO - What will bring us the Constitutive Session of the National Assembly of RS in Bijeljina, at which that prodigy of democratisation should be expressed fully in extraordinary Serbian manner? It would be good that nobody wins the majority in the parliament, and even better if parliament would be chopped up in many parties (probably in order to prevent Serbs to outvote one another), were saying passionately some party leaders to people, imposing the strategy of " the more parties in the parliament, the better" and in everything following the "greatness" and the influence of their party - is written in the review of the deputy of the General Director of SRNA for editorial work Zeljo Grujic.

BRCKO - The president of the Steering Board of the Municipal Assembly and mayor of Brcko Borko Reljic stated that there are arguments firm enough for this town to stay in the composition of RS, disregarding attempts of the other side to gradually extract this city from the frame of RS with the assistance of a part of the international community. "We are preparing ourselves for March 15 and in this moment I can openly say that we have in our hands completely enough arguments to preserve this town" - said the mayor.

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic anticipates that at the tomorrow's Constitutive Session of the National Assembly (NS) of RS will be formed new municipal commissions and working bodies and important step toward the establishing of the new republican government will be made. After the meeting with the deputy of the High Representative of the international community for B&H Michael Schumacher she stated precisely that it means that the session of the National Assembly will have both ceremonial and working character. The RS president expressed hope that NS in new convocation will be constituted in accordance with laws and in a concrete atmosphere.

BIJELJINA - The president of the National Assembly of RS Dragan Kalinic and the representatives of the clubs of party's representatives represented in the new RS parliament discussed in Banja Dvorovi near Bijeljina different political and procedural variants for constituting of the NS of RS. "Though we are trying to find a solution which would be satisfying for key parliamentary parties, I have to say that there are still many obstacles on that way" - explained Kalinic. He explained that opinions are specially divided about the election of mandators and that there are some exceptions from the ordinary parliamentary practice in Europe.

TREBINJE - In the next year total number of the beneficiaries of the humanitarian aid in Herzegovina will be cut into halves in comparison with this year - was confirmed for SRNA in the Coordinating Board of the Red Cross for Eastern Herzegovina. The reason for this drastic reducing of the aid is the retreat of a large number of donators from eastern Herzegovina, by which specially refugees and displaced persons have been brought in extremely difficult position.

MOSTAR - The police of the Mostar Canton announced that at the Muslim cemetery Soinovac, in the Croatian part of Mostar for the time being unknown persons have destroyed 30 tombstones - reports AFP. Incident took place on December 23, but the police issued announcement just today and went to the scene of the crime to conduct an investigation.
