NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SOKOLAC - President in the B&H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS) Momcilo Krajisnik said at the Spiritual Academy in Sokolac that we have repaid in a symbolic way to the Kosovo heroes - we created a state in the regions where Nemanja himself was creating. "We are not in the position to make decisions on our own, on all matters. There are many influences for RS to integrate in the unitary B&H more than it was envisaged by the Dayton Peace Accord", said Krajisnik. According to him, "it is true that the international community has a great influence here, but the Dayton Peace Accord, which has brought peace, gives enough space for us to preserve RS."

VIENNA - The OSCE centre in Vienna has registered 147,577 voters who will vote on the elections in September in RS and FB&H by mail from abroad - said for SRNA a Minister, Adviser in the B&H Council of Ministers Foreign Affairs Ministry Gordan Milinic. He said that a deadline for voters registration would be concluded today, because post offices did not work on Sunday. Around 5,000 requests for registration are still on checking in Vienna and today from Vienna will arrive the last delivery by which voters registration will be officially concluded, said Milinic.

THE HAGUE - Former mayor of Vukovar,48, Slavko Dokmanovic, who was put on trial before the Hague War Crimes Tribunal on charge of alleged war crimes, committed suicide in the Seveningen prison - agencies report citing spokesman of the Tribunal Christian Schartie. He hung himself in the prison cell, and his verdict was to be pronounced in two weeks time.

LUXEMBOURG - The EU Foreign Affairs Ministers in Luxembourg are reconsidering political options for the Kosmet crisis - DPA reports. They are trying to find political models by which conflict in Kosovo will be solved in a peaceful manner. Along with Kosmet, the EU Ministers will discuss the diplomatic crisis in Belarus.

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic received in Banjaluka in a farewell visit the British Ambassador to B&H Charles Crawford. "We are very sorry that Mr. Crawford is leaving us and I share the same opinion with many other people in RS who had an opportunity to work with him" - said Biljana Plavsic. Mr. Crawford said that Great Britain always supported the normalisation of situation, imposing of European standards and improvement of living conditions in RS and FB&H in order for people from these regions to become part of Europe. At the end he expressed pleasure that he opened a Bureau of the British Embassy in Banjaluka.

SARAJEVO - President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik said in Pale that the cooperation between RS and OSCE would be more successful and that personnel changes in top of the organisation would not have much influence on that. After the meeting with senior deputy of the OSCE mission Ambassador Norbert Clinger, Krajisnik said that the talks were constructive and greatest attention was paid to the implementation of election results and preparations for the forthcoming elections in RS and FB&H.

SARAJEVO - Former chairman of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Presidency Aleksa Buha said for TANJUG that he would not found new party after the resignation he had submitted in SDS. "I am President of the SDS delegates clubs in the RS National Assembly and on that position I will remain until elections in September", said Buha.

BANJALUKA - President of the RS Alternative Government Dubravko Prstojevic expressed suspicion at the press-conference in Banjaluka that the former Mayor of Vukovar Slavko Dokmanovic committed a suicide keeping in mind that he was an innocent man who was imprisoned with no reason. Commenting on the recent statement of Haris Silajdzic, co-chairman of the B&H Council of Ministers that NATO can use the B&H territory for eventual military intervention in Kosovo against FRY, Prstojevic said that "it has been clear for a long time that a man like Silajdzic and with his political determination is very dangerous for the Dayton Agreement and peace in B&H and as such he should not be in politics"

BELGRADE - Zoran Jovanovic, a lawyer from the Fila Office in Belgrade, said for SRNA that the Office has been informed about suicide of Slavko Dokmanovic in the Hague. "The Tribunal has informed us that Dokmanovic committed suicide some after midnight in his prison cell while the office was informed on that at 2:00 a.m", said Jovanovic. According to him Fila went to Sombor to inform Dokmanovic's family on the matter. "Cause of the death was not released from the Tribunal but the Office team will depart for the Hague on Wednesday where they will demand for the inquiry", said Jovanovic.

MADRID - Spanish paper "El Mundo" accused once more NATO that it tolerated children prostitution in the B&H peaceful forces barracks - DPA reports. "In military barracks near Sarajevo soldiers are molesting underaged Bosniac girls" - said the paper, mentioning girls between 14 and 15 years of age who were smuggled as prostitutes in the barracks. Ring of prostitution is controlled by Italian soldiers and local mafia. The "El mundo" correspondent cites Muslim pimp who claims that he himself "provided soldiers with six girls". One 14-year-old girl was molested in one night by 12 Italian soldiers.

KLINA - Larger groups of Albanian terrorists last night around 7:30p.m. attacked Serb houses with hand grenades and automatic weapons. The houses belong to Dobric, Petric and Stasic family in the village of Drenovac near Klina - SRNA has learned in Klina. There were no casualties but significant material damage was committed. According to the newest information Albanian terrorists repeated their attack but for now there are no precise information on the matter.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - A group of Albanian terrorists beaten up last night at 11:00p.m. and stubbed with knife Petar Djordjevic, security man from Kosmetput, in Kosovska Mitrovica - SRNA has learned from the local authorities in Kosovska Mitrovica. Djordjevic is out of life danger.

OBILIC - Albanian terrorists in the early morning started with the attack on Serb part of Crkvena Vodica, 2 km from Obilic - SRNA has learned from Obilic. The attack was initiated by Albanians with hand grenades and automatic weapons, who had hidden their families the previous night. Terrorists from neighbouring villages joined the attack.

BONN - Meeting of the Contact Group at the level of political directors regarding Kosmet will be held in Bonn on July 8th - AFP reports citing diplomatic sources. The Contact Group members - the U.S., Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy - are expecting that by that date the clashes would cease.

BONN - The international community is considering possibility to impose some sort of a protectorate in Kosmet which is not going to have all elements of this kind of management - DPA reports citing diplomatic sources in Bonn. According to this option, Kosmet will be given international guarantees for selfmanagement, and in return the international community would give Belgrade assurances that the secession will not take place in Kosovo.

VIENNA - The UN Secretary General Kofy Annan said in Vienna that the situation in Kosmet was critical and called on the international community to prevent the "total war" - agencies report. "The international community must do everything not to allow new Bosnia", said Annan. The UN Secretary General repeated his stance that he was against the NATO military intervention in Kosmet without the UN mandate. According to him, there is still possibility for crisis to be solved in diplomatic way.

MOSCOW - Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Vladimir Rahmanjin said that Russia was against the NATO military involvement in Kosovo - DPA reports citing Interfax. "Russia can not support military operations against sovereign states and the UN members as FRY is", said Rahmanjin adding that Russian Government still supports for the conflict in Kosmet to be solved by diplomatic means.

BRUSSELS - The NATO Secretary General Javier Solana will arrive to Sarajevo on July 1st where he will participate on the Informative seminar on the NATO activities out of the B&H mission - it has been stated from the NATO headquarters in Brussels. Civil representatives and journalists were invited to the seminar. The source did not tell whether Solana will have talks with some of the RS and FB&H representatives.

SARAJEVO - Internal Affairs Ministry of Hercegovina-Neretva canton stated that in the last month in this canton were mined or set fire to 66 abandoned houses, which owners submitted a request for return - Muslim media report.

DOBOJ - Representatives of the Informative Service of the 304th brigade of the RS Army (VRS) went out into the field to collect arms, ammunition and explosive devices from inhabitants from the region of Ozren. Members of this unit will be on the field until July 2nd when expires deadline for amnesty for illegal possession of arms.

BANJALUKA - British Ambassador to B&H Charles Crawford opened in Banjaluka the Office of the British Embassy. The occasion was attended by the Republika Srpska (RS) President and vice-president Biljana Plavsic and Dragoljub Mirjanic, vicepresident of the RS Government Djuradj Banjac, representatives of the RS political parties, British SFOR forces and from the international organisations and institutions.

BANJALUKA - Members of the Expert team and the RS State Commission for exchange of war prisoners and missing persons identified seven more killed and murdered Serb soldiers and civilians, whose bodies were exhumed from the mass grave Aprazlije near Livno, this Commission stated for SRNA. The identified are: Marko (Trivan ) Trkulja, 1956, from Crni Lug near Grahovo, Nenad (Dragan) Makic,1965, from Pec near Grahovo, Mico Skapina,1953, from the village of Peulje near Grahovo and a civilian Vinka (Simeon) Baros,1914, from Glamoc.

TESLIC - Presidents of the Teslic Municipal Assembly and Executive Board Milovan Stankovic and Predrag Markocevic forwarded to the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, Internal Affairs Minister and Minister of Education Milovan Stankovic and Nenad Suzic a letter in which they warned on a bad security situation in this Municipality. In the letter is emphasised that "citizens of Teslic Municipality are disturbed because of the inquiry of the RS MUP and IPTF over more than 10 employees of this station because of alleged violation of the labour discipline".

BANJALUKA - A death of a former Mayor of Vukovar Slavko Dokmanovic in the Seveningen prison confirms our suspicion in righteousness and objectivity of the Hague War Crimes Tribunal - is said in the statement of the RS Serbian Radical Party (SRS). The SRS thinks that "circumstances around alleged Dokmanovic's suicide are still not cleared enough", and there is a great possibility that it was a murder.

BELGRADE - President of the Independent Serbian Democratic Party (SSDS) Vojislav Stanimirovic said at the press-conference in Belgrade that it was incomprehensible that an incident like suicide of Slavko Dokmanovic could have happened in the Seveningen prison. Expressing condolences to the family Stanimirovic said that he was surprised hearing the news about suicide of a Mayor of Vukovar Slavko Dokmanovic.

PEC - One Serbian policeman has been killed yesterday during armed attacks of Albanian terrorists on Serbian civilians, the police and FRY Army in Kosovo and Metohija. In the region of the Prizren Municipality one massacred body was found of an unknown man. There are some assumptions that it is about one of 39 kidnapped civilians among whom there were Albanians who were supporting dialogue and peaceful solution for the Kosovo crisis.

KLINA - Last night Albanian terrorists set on fire four Serbian houses, ownership of Dobric family in the village of Veliki Djurdjevik, SRNA has learned in Klina. Many of the Serbs from this village run away to Klina.

PRISTINA - Members of the Serbian police besieged groups of Albanian terrorists which occupied Management Building and the coal mine Belacevac workshops near Obilic - Media Centre in Pristina announced. Part of terrorists retreated to the village of Ade and Belacevac from where they were shooting from the automatic weapons on the police.

BELGRADE - War that could be waged in Kosovo would be a long-term one even with the NATO intervention, warned participants of the Tribune of the Belgrade Media Centre on a subject "Strenght and Weakness of Power in Kosovo". Military commentator Ljubodrag Stojadinovic, Bogdan Ivanisevic from the Fund for Humanitarian Law and the New Democracy President adviser Ratomir Tanic warned that "Kosovo can not be solved with force and it is impossible to close the Kosovo crisis hermetically what the international community achieved in previous conflicts in the regions of the former Yugoslavia".

MOSTAR - The B&H New Croatian Initiative (NHI) and the Croatian Christian Democratic Union (HKDU) will be on the forthcoming elections in September as coalitions partners, it has been stated from the NHI seat. The decision was adopted at the meeting of the Presidency members of the NHI and HKDU in Sarajevo.

BANJALUKA - Delegation of the Republika Srpska (RS) Government headed by vice-president of the RS government Tihomir Gligoric returned from the visit to Rome where had been realized a project of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on social three-part dialogue between the Government, employers and the Syndicate, it has been confirmed for SRNA in the RS Information Ministry. "Talks were held between representatives of institutions, establishments and associations of the Italian Government, employers of the KOFI industry, Italian Syndicate and the Organisation for Economic, Social and Labour Issues (KNEC)", is said in the announcement.

BANJALUKA - Spokesman of the RS Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) Dusko Tuzlancic denied in Banjaluka statements according to which the RS Internal Affairs Minister Milovan Stankovic submitted his resignation. Tuzlancic said that the RS MUP headed by Stankovic achieved to accomplish four key tasks of the Government - unity of RS and fight against crime.

BIJELJINA - Vice-president of the Serbian People's Union (SNS) Svetozar Mihajlovic said at the press-conference in Bijeljina that the SNS formed for the future RS Parliament a list of candidates with 90 names on it, keeping in mind equal representation of all parts of RS. Its goal is to be the leading party on the forthcoming elections in September with 20 to 30 representatives in the future Parliament.

SARAJEVO - On July 1st and 2nd a Seminar will be held in Sarajevo on Development of Democracy in B&H at which politicians, scientists, military experts and media representatives from RS and FB&H will take part, is said in the statement from the NATO seat in Brussels. The seminar on development of democracy in B&H will be opened by the NATO Secretary General Javier Solana and Foreign Affairs Minister in the B&H Council of Ministers Jadranko Prlic.
