BIJELJINA - The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Biljana Plavsic, said in Bijeljina that RS "needs to carry out the most optimal internal and foreign policy which includes the implementation of the Dayton Peace Accord which has brought the peace and the acknowledgment of RS". President Plavsic stressed that the RS Government achieved, in very short time, to make its interests closer with the interest of Europe, although it was being interfered by the previous Government and authority. "In contrast to the previous Government, current Government is not corrupted and it acts in the interests of citizens" - said Plavsic. She added that she was not pleased with the work of the RS Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) and the RS Ministry of Justice.

PELAGICEVO - The RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik, said on the occasion of the opening of the new barracks of the RS Army (VRS) in Pelagicevo that "only strong and trained army and loyal to the civilian structures of the authority is capable to defend borders of RS and to be the peace keeper in these regions". According to him "the VRS is the only force that has an obligation to secure safe life of people in these regions". The VRS is basically the defensive army needed wherever the population needs safety", said Dodik.

TREBINJE - We must preserve RS, which was hard to get during the war, and that is our first and only task - this is a conclusion from the people's gathering on Zubacki ubli. The occasion was attended by Momcilo Krajisnik, President in the B&H Presidency from RS, Mirko Sarovic, a Mayor of Srpsko Sarajevo a representative Borivoje Sendic, and on the behalf of the Serbian Youth organisation from Banjaluka, Ljubica Sakotic.

PRIJEDOR - If the Serbian Democratic Party wins in the forthcoming elections it will serve the people and will provide access for RS to Europe and to the world, said the President of the SDS Presidency, Dragan Kalinic. The difference between them and the current authority is that the current authority leads people toward unitary B&H, the B&H that forced Serbian people to fight the war". The SDS deputy President Dragan Cavic thinks that the current authority does not represent the people's will and through the property and other laws tries to reintegrate the B&H".

BANJALUKA - At the meeting between the RS President and a delegation of the Milici Municipality it has been agreed for the Commissioners of this Municipality to be under control of the RS Assistant Minister of Local Authority, Mirko Stevanovic. President Plavsic said to the Commissioners of the Milici Municipality that all replacements within the Municipal services were illegal; some of them, by which basic human rights were violated must be withdrawn as soon as possible, and it depends on Commissioners whether the unstable political situation from Milici will be extended on other parts of RS.

BELGRADE - A lawyer, Igor Pantelic, said that Milan Kovacevic, former director of a hospital in Prijedor, who was charged of alleged war crimes and detained in the Hague, passed away because the Hague Tribunal did not fulfill necessary medical requirements. On the day before he died, Kovacevic asked for a medical help but he had never received such help. "At his arrival to the Hague, last year Kovacevic had an apoplexy on two occasions and before he was arrested he was a serious heart patient", said Pantelic and added that Kovacevic's lawyers were pointing out in July in 1997 the difficult health condition of Dr.Milan Kovacevic.

BELGRADE - Yugoslav Foreign Affairs Minister, Zivadin Jovanovic and FYRM Foreign Affairs Minister, Blagoje Handzinski, assessed positively the cooperation between Belgrade and Skoplje. In an attack, two policemen have been injured, Momir Stojanovic and Ljubisa Maksimovic from Pec, SRNA has learned from the Municipal authorities in Decani.

BELGRADE - The Democratic Party (DS) thinks that "possible involvement of the Serbian National Assembly in the Kosmet problem would rather be assessed as a need of the regime to ratify its previous mistakes than its wish to give to the National Assembly an assignment, that rightfully belongs to it by the Constitution". "Announcements made by the regime according to which the National Assembly will be included in the process of solving the Kosovo crisis could be described as optimistic if it would be sincere".

WASHINGTON - The U.S. prepares the draft of the plan of 26 items in order to support the Iraqi opposition, and to weaken the Iraqi President Sadam Husein. It would also be used as a preparation for the criminal charges to be brought against Iraqi leaders for war crimes - said the "Washington post" citing statement of the unnamed American diplomats. According to them, $U.S.5 millions will be invested in the project, on the initiative of the U. S. Congress.

LOPARE - Basic national interest of the Serbian people in RS is to live in prosperity and freely as normal people do - said the RS Socialist Party (SP) vice-president, Dragutin Ilic at the public Tribune in Lopare - "The RS meets the general elections". Asked how he comment on the RS Government decision to relieve from duty directors and editors in chief of the local media, Ilic said that the "SPRS does not excuse dismissals of that kind".
