NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president in Presidency of B&H from Republika Srpska /RS/ Momcilo Krajisnik stated at the last night's tribune of the City Board of Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/ in Banja Luka that RS is the greatest value which in twentieth century have created the over-Drina river Serbs. Krajisnik thinks that at the political scene of RS temporarily are present two options - "state and suffering, which offers the Coalition of SDS and Serbian Radical Party /SRS/ and other patriotic parties, while another concept is the one which to the people offers the Coalition "Sloga" and false promises, and in which the state will not exist". The president of the Presidency of SDS Dragan Kalinic accused the current authorities that, as he stated, "surely leads RS into unitary B&H, which is not anticipated by the Dayton agreement, and about what dream Alija Izetbegovic and his likeminded followers, what actually was the cause for war in 1992".

PRIJEDOR - The organisational board for burial of MD Milan Kovacevic considered last night in Prijedor the details of organising funeral and for the moment is sure that the funeral will be performed at the cemetery Bozici, the place of birth of passed away Kovacevic. Although it is not known when the postmortem remains of Dr. Kovacevic will be delivered to Prijedor, the coffin with his body will be most probably some time in his house and later in the house of municipal assembly Prijedor.

BUDVA - The refugees and displaced persons from Croatia could apply in municipal Secretariate in Budva for organised individual return to Croatia.

PRISTINA - In the region of Kosovo and Metohija during the last two days occurred several attempts of illegal passing over the border and terroristic attacks at the members of the members and objects of Army of Yugoslavia /VJ/ - announced last night the Informational service of the Third Army of VJ. "On that occasion", is stated in the announcement, "in performing tasks on protection of state border and territorial integrity of FR Yugoslavia were killed soldiers Nemanja Livic, born in 1979 in Belgrade and Aleksander Njagul, born in 1974 in Pancevo".

WASHINGTON - The planners of NATO have concluded the packet of measures for stopping the continued clashes between Serbian forces and, as the US officials state, "Kosovo fighters" on Kosmet. This confirmed last night the spokesman of State Department James Rubin, not saying precisely the details of plan, but added that the secretary general of NATO Javier Solana required from the military planners to make precise the basic measures which would be used.

BAGDHAD - The negotiations between the Commission of UN for disarmament of Iraq and Iraq politicians were interrupted last night since two parties could not agree about further control of arms - report the agencies. "I have presented the new plan which was refused and I do not know whether we shall meet tomorrow or not" - stated after the talks in Baghdad the chief of the Commission of UN Richard Buttler.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic and deputy High representative in B&H Jacques Klein assessed during the meeting in Banja Luka that the situation in RS, differently than last year is significantly better and that it is changed in the favour of RS. "RS Government headed by president Plavsic and premier Milorad Dodik is accepted by the international community, what prove their visits to Paris, Bonn and other European cities" - assessed Klein and added that EU and U.S.A. as a sign of support invested in RS significant financial resources.

BANJA LUKA - The president of RS Biljana Plavsic and vice president of RS Government Ostoja Kremenovic talked in BAnja Luka with Dr. Milorad Filipovic, president and members of the Provisional state agency of the municipality Milici about the cooperation of Republican organs and agency. "We expect that the Agency will in short time period provide the democratisation of relations and create new political ambient in which the political parties and delegates could undertake the responsibility for their part of job, and that the Executive Board and Municipal Assembly /SO/ of Milici will be established, in accordance with previously conducted elections in this municipality" - stated Kremenovic to journalists.

PRIJEDOR - The post-mortem remains of Dr. Milan Kovacevic, who passed away in the detention of the Hague Tribunal on August 1, most probably will be delivered on Wednesday around noon at the Banja Luka airport, and the funeral will be done on Thursday afternoon - stated for SRNA the president of SO Prijedor Borislav Maric.

BANJA LUKA - The ministry of health and social protection of RS has no insight into the medical treatment of Serbs imprisoned in Scheweningen, the prison of Hagues Tribunal - is stated in the announcement of the Ministry forwarded to SRNA on the occasion of death of Dr. Milan Kovacevic in Hague. In the text is stressed that the Ministry "has got the oral objection and the letter in which is stated that the health protection of detainees is not at the human and professional level".

SARAJEVO - The Association of authors of RS sent on the occasion of the death of Dr. Milan Kovacevic in the prison of the Hague's Tribunal, the condolence telegram to the family and to the president of SO Prijedor. In the telegram, which in the name of two hundred authors from Srpska signed the president of Association Vladimir Nastic, is stressed that Dr. Kovacevic was a great humanist and patriot and that by its unselfish efforts in many-side obliged the Serbian people.

BANJA LUKA - The member of the Main Board of the Serbian National Union Jovan Mitrovic stated in Banja Luka that this party will make its efforts "to prevent historical mistakes ever to happen again and that Serbian people do not turn its victory in war into the defeat in peace". He anticipates the victory of the Coalition Sloga and forming the Serbian parliament and Serbian Government. Mitrovic warned at the press conference that the territory of RS and people in it could defend themselves from any kind of attacks only in case of consistent implementation of regulations of the Dayton agreement.

BIJELJINA - The vice-president of the Socialistic party of RS /SPRS/ Nedjo Djuric stressed in Bijeljina that the priority tasks in the pre-electoral and post-electoral period are the continuation of the further opening of RS towards the world and cooperation with international community. Djuric thinks that RS must be equal partner in international community, and on the inner plan SPRS will, as he said, make efforts for passing Laws on investigation about illegally gained property during the war, in order to punish perpetrators in appropriate way, and the property returned to the people.

SARAJEVO - The spokesman of IPTF ALexander Ivanko announced at the press conference in federal part of Sarajevo that yesterday the police in Drvar for the first time has arrested the one Croatian man suspected for burning Serbian houses in that city. Ivanko did not announce the name of suspect, but he stressed that he admitted that he was burning down the Serbian houses.

BANJA LUKA - The spokesman of the Office of UNHCR in Banja Luka Vendy Rapaport has confirmed at the press conference that during the last weekend in the surroundings of Glamoc has returned 31 persons of Serbian nationality, and that in the same time in that place were burned three Serbian houses, out of which one is property of returnee. Rapaport has stressed that UNHCR requires full investigation about this case and appealed at local authorities in Glamoc to undertake a measures and assure security to Serbs returnees.

PRISTINA - The members of Serbian police neutralised strong terroristic forces in the region of the village Laus, municipality Drenica - announced the Pristina Media Centre. According to them, police hold under control this and surrounding villages in Drenica municipality, and in the actions this morning police had no casualties.

PRISTINA - The members of Serbian police are in the violent clash with the terrorists around Ovcarevo near Klina, stronghold of separatists, which were attacking last days Serbs in the neighbouring villages around Klina from this village - learns SRNA from the local authorities in Klina.

PRISTINA - The coordinator of the work of state organs at Kosovo and Metohija Andreja Milosavljevic said in Pristina to the representatives of ICRC and UNHCR that state organs of Republic of Serbia insist on return of refugees fled because of terroristic activities, guaranteeing the security and maximal aid, regardless the nationality. According to the announcement of the Province secretariat for information in talks with Beatris Veber, chief of OCRC Office, and Thomas Vargas, chief of UNHCR Office in Pristina, was concluded that the enormous efforts are made in order to provide the teams of humanitarian organisations with the unimpeded passage and providing assistance at the whole territory of Kosmet, especially in the crisis regions.

BAGDHAD, NEW YORK - The negotiations between UN and Iraq about eliminating Iraq'a weapons for mass destruction came into deadlock, and the chief of the special UN Commission for control of Iraq weapons Richard Buttler left Baghdad unsatisfied and departed to New York - report the agencies. Buttler and the expert team of UN for bilogic and chemical weapons, as well as for ballistic rockets, left the Headquarters of the Special UN Commission and went to the basis in Bahrein, stating that Baghdad fully rejected the new plan for accelerated eliminating of the Iraq weapons for mass destruction.

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The President of the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly Legislative commission, Mirko Sarovic, neither scheduled nor held a session of the Commission at which was discussed legality of the RS Government decision to relieve leadership of the local radio and television stations from duty - is said in the statement of the Assembly's secretary general, Momir Malic. "In accordance with the operating procedure of the National Assembly, the Legislative commission is not authorised to discuss legality of the decisions made by the RS Government", is said in the statement given to SRNA.

BANJALUKA - The RS Minister of Education, Nenad Suzic, will sign on Thursday, 6 August, in Trebinje a Protocol on the implementation of the programme for pre-school training in the eastern part of RS, financed by USAID and in the next 18 months will be carried out by the "Save the children" agency. "According to this programme, on 50 locations in 21 municipalities 100 classrooms will be equipped for 2000 pupils", is said in the statement issued by the Ministry of Information given to SRNA.

PRISTINA - Serbian Security Forces are holding in the encirclement Albanian terrorists in the villages of Sisman, Nec, Seremet and Dobros and few small villages in the Djakovica Municipality, SRNA has learned from representatives of the local authorities in Djakovica. In a day or two, as it is expected, these villages will be under police control.
