    [01] President Mugabe arrives in Cyprus Monday

    Nicosia, Jan 3 (CNA) -- President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe, will pay a state visit to Cyprus January 6 to 8, during which he will hold talks with President Clerides.

    Mugabe will be escorted by First Lady, Grace Mugabe, Foreign Minister, Stanislaus Mudenge, and a number of state officials, including Deputy Ministers of Environment and Tourism and Sports and Culture.

    During his three day visit Mugabe will address a special session of the House of Representatives and meet House President, Spyros Kyprianou, political party leaders and Archbishop Chrysostomos.

    On Monday afternoon Mugabe will have private talks with President Clerides.

    According to the provisional programme, Cyprus Foreign Minister, Alecos Michaelides, and his Zimbabwean counterpart, will join the talks at a later stage.

    In the evening President Clerides will hold a State banquet in honour of his counterpart, and on Tuesday, Nicosia Mayor, Lellos Demetriades, will present President Mugabe with a plaque.

    President Mugabe will also visit historical sites and museums in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos. CNA MCH/MA/1997
