    [01] Cyprus - UN - Human Rights

Nicosia, Nov 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus has called on the UN to effectively address the question of impunity of states or non-state actors, pointing out that the situation in Cyprus remains a glaring example that impunity in international relations encourages those who disregard the rule of law.

Cyprus also reminded the world community that Turkey, which continues to occupy 37 per cent of the Republic's territory, has repeatedly thwarted all efforts to secure a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem.

    [02] Attorney General - Missing

Nicosia, Nov 10 (CNA) -- Attorney General Alecos Markides has stressed the need to investigate and establish the fate of each missing person since the Turkish invasion, following scientific proof that remains exhumed in the summer belong to a Greek Cypriot person listed as missing.

Markides also said that Turkey, which invaded Cyprus and continues to occupy its northern part, is accountable for the fate of 1.491 missing persons, whose files are with the Committee of Missing Persons (CMP) for examination.

[03] Socialist leader - Paris meeting

Nicosia, Nov 10 (CNA) -- Socialist EDEK leader Vasos Lyssarides has said Nicosia and Athens would consult each other on future moves relating to the Cyprus question, in the light of attempts to give Turkey candidate status at next month's European Union summit in Helsinki.

Lyssarides also said there should be no change in Greece's positions regarding Turkey's European aspirations unless satisfactory returns are provided.
