    [01] Cyprus President - Ambassadors

    Nicosia, Dec 17 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides met this morning the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council in Nicosia.

    The joint Presidential Palace meeting was also attended by the acting special representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus James Holger.

    [02] Cyprus - Tourist arrivals

    Nicosia, Dec 17 (CNA) -- Tourist arrivals in Cyprus until the end of November increased by 9,9% compared with the corresponding period last year.

    It is expected that the increase will reach 10 per cent by the end of 1999 compared with tourist arrivals in 1998.

    Latest statistics show there were 270,732 arrivals in October and 120, 542 in November, an increase of 18.3% and 14% respectively over the same months of 1998.

    [03] Cyprus - Belarus - Agreement

    Nicosia, Dec 17 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Belarus signed on Wednesday a bilateral agreement on issues of press and information.

    The agreement was signed in Minsk, by Cyprus Press and Information Office Director George Hadjisavvas and President of Belarus State Press Committee Mikhail Podgainy.

    Speaking at a press conference, Hadjisavvas said the agreement covers the exchange of information on political, economic and cultural issues as well as the exchange of visits by journalists.
