[01] British diplomats - Cyprus question - Meetings

Nicosia, Feb 29 (CNA) - A senior British diplomat who follows the Cyprus peace process has said the format of the UN-led proximity talks conducted with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides does not rule out engaging in the substance of the Cyprus question.

On his first visit to Cyprus since his appointment as head of the Foreign Office Southern-European Department last year and after calling on President Glafcos Clerides, Jeremy Hill also said the responsibility for the preparation of any documents rests with the UN but Britain is willing to provide every assistance.
