    [02] DIKO - New President - Conference

    Nicosia, Oct 7 (CNA) -- Lawyer and MP Tasos Papadopoulos was today officially announced President of centre-right Democratic Party (DIKO) at the start of the party's two-day 7th conference, during which he pledged to give emphasis to a dialogue, collective decisions, democratic principles and transparency.

    In his speech with which he thanked party members for their trust, Papadopoulos described DIKO as a centrist party supporting a free economy that takes into consideration the people and their needs and gave special emphasis to meritocracy and education, two factors he described as especially important for the younger generation.
