    [01] Moscow - Cyprus - Investments

    Moscow, Oct 19 (CNA) - Cyprus holds the second position in direct investments from around the world in Moscow and the third or fourth position in direct investments in the Russian Federation as a whole.

    Georgi Muradov, Director of International Relations Department of the Government of Moscow, told CNA that Cyprus follows Germany in direct investments in Moscow while in the Russian federation in general, the Eastern Mediterranean island Republic follows the US, Germany and France. Sometimes, Cyprus finds itself in the third place. CNA/MK/GP/CC/RG/2000

    [02] Foreign Minister - Norwegian State Minister

    Nicosia, Oct 19 (CNA) -- Norway underlined its support for a Cyprus settlement based on UN resolutions and stressed the importance of bi- communal activities in confidence-building between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.

    Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides briefed today Norwegian State Minister Reymond Johansen on developments in efforts to solve the Cyprus problem and they discussed how Norway, newly-elected as member of the Security Council, can help. CNA/MCH/IA/2000

    Iicosia, Oct 19 (CNA) - According to the Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport, the weather forecast for Cyprus is:

    Friday and Saturday: 20/10/2000 to 21/10/2000

    Partly cloudy with showers and thuderstorms. The winds will be southwesterly fresh 4-5 beaufort and the sea will be moderate. Temperatures will range from 15 to 25 inland and from 16 to 26 on the coast.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 22/10/2000 to 23/10/2000

    Remaining unsettled with rain and thuderstorms

    [04] Spokesman - Albania

    Nicosia, Oct 19 (CNA)- The Cyprus government has expressed concern about the situation in Albania, after foreign observers have established that municipal elections in the country took place under a climate of tension.

    "The government is monitoring the Albanian government efforts towards democratisation of its political system with great interest and expects Tirana to take all necessary measures to respect the will of the people and the protection of human rights of the Greek minority," Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said here today.
