[07] President Clerides - Cyprus peace talks - Denktash

Nicosia, Dec 1 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides today said the Cyprus question is going through a crucial phase, adding it appears that Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, backed by Ankara, will withdraw from the UN- led peace talks.

He said that if this is the case, then the Turkish side should bear the responsibility, criticising Denktash because he is "refusing to negotiate within the framework set out in UN resolutions and wants to walk out of the talks."
