Nicosia, Feb 1 (CNA)-- Developments in the Cyprus question and the
forthcoming decision by Cyprus Airways to purchase new aircraft were the
main items on today's agenda of a meeting between President Glafcos
Clerides and US Ambassador in Nicosia Donald Bandler.
"One of my roles here as Ambassador is to make sure that every American
company interested in doing business in the Cyprus market has an equal and
fair chance to win in a competitive decision on commercial factors,"
Bandler said after the 60-minute meeting, which he described as
"excellent."

[02] Weather forecast for Cyprus
Íicosia, Feb 1 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International
Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:
Friday and Saturday: 2/2/2001 to 3/2/2001
The weather will be unstable with local showers or thunderstorms and snow
over mountains. Winds southerly to southerwesterly moderate to strong and
the state of sea moderate locally rough.
Maximum Temperature: 14 C inland and around 16 C over coast. Minimum
Temperature: 4 C inland and around 7 C over coast.
Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 4/2/2001 to 5/2/2001
Local showers are expected on Sunday but on Monday it will be fine. Small
decrease in temperature is expected.
Sea temperature: 16C
