    1725:CYPRESS:02 Cyprus - Credentials - Ecuador Nicosia, June 18 (CNA) - President of Ecuador Gustavo Noboa Bejerano received the credentials of Cyprus' new Ambassador to the country Antonis Toumazis, assuring that Ecuador's support to Cyprus was and will remain unlimited.

    An official press release issued today notes that Toumazis, who is based in Mexico, informed Noboa about developments in the Cyprus problem and the recent European Court of Human Rights decision that found Turkey guilty of mass violations of human rights in Cyprus, divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.     [03] UNFICYP - Change of Command - Ceremony

    Nicosia, June 18 (CNA) - The end of the United Nations Austrian Hungarian Slovenian Battalion (UNAHSB) and the deployment of the United Nations Slovakian Hungarian Battalion (UNSHB), with effect as of tomorrow, was marked today in Famagusta during a change of command ceremony.

    According to an UNFICYP press release, the ceremony featured the handover of Sector 4 by Lieutenant Colonel Kienberger, commanding officer of the Austrian contingent, to Lieutenant Colonel Kovac, commanding officer of the recently arrived Slovak contingent. C/R/RG/2001


    [04] Kyrenia Bishop - Religious heritage

    Nicosia, June 18 (CNA)- Kyrenia Bishop Pavlos expressed today his strong protest and grave concern regarding the new destruction of the religious heritage of Cyprus by Turkish troops that illegally occupy the northern part of the island since 1974.

    The Holy Diocese of Kyrenia has announced that the letter is addressed to the Ambassadors of the permanent member states of the UN Security Council, the Secretary-Generals of the UN, the Council of Europe, Interpol and UNESCO, as well as the US President and the President of American Congress.
