Nicosia, Sep 7 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides has expressed the opinion that Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash will not respond positively to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan's invitation for the resumption of peace talks on the Cyprus problem, on September 12, in New York.

Cyprus political parties - Cyprus problem

Nicosia, Sep 7 (CNA) -- Cyprus political parties have denounced Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash's refusal to accept the UN Secretary-General's invitation to resume UN-led peace talks on the Cyprus problem, expressing the belief that the Turkish side was manoeuvring in an effort to secure more benefits, that would lead Denktash back to the negotiating table.

Party leaders or representatives were briefed yesterday by President Glafcos Clerides on latest developments in the Cyprus problem and UN Secretary-General's invitation for the resumption of the peace talks, on September 12, in New York.
