    [01] Cyprus hosts Euro Conference on Bioethics

    Paphos, Nov 12 (CNA) -- About 120 distinguished scientists, researchers, jurists and academics from National Ethics Committees of member states of the Council of Europe (CoE) opened discussions here today, first science day of the sixth European Conference of National Ethics Committees, on the dilemmas and benefits of the developments in biomedicine and biotechnology.

    The Conference on "Genetics and Society, opportunities and threats", held this year in Cyprus' western coastal town of Paphos, will deal today with specialised issues, such as the knowledge of genetics and its impact on insurances as well as the genetic testing in employment and on public health issues. The delegates will also hear views on the future of genetic testing. CNA/AAR/GP/2001

    Nicosia, Íïv 12 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 13/11/2001 to 14/11/2001

    The weather on Tuesday will be mainly fine with patchy cloudy. The winds will be northeasterly to southeasterly gentle locally up to moderate. Maximum temperature around 25C and minimum temperature around 13C.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 14/11/2001 to 15/11/2001

    No significant change.

    Sea Temperature: 22C
