    Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- The weather will be unstable with local thundery showers during day time over land and sea, but during night time only over sea. The wind will prevail southwest to west gentle 3 to 4 bf during day time and wet to northwest 3 locally 4 during night time.

    The maximum temperature will range from 16 inland to 18 degrees over the coastal areas and the minimum will range from 5 to 9. over the highest peaks of Troodos the temperature will range from 0 to 5 degrees and local frost is expected.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday 31/03/2000 to 01/04/2002

    On Sunday the weather will gradually become cloudy with light showers. The temperature is expected to note a small rise. On Monday the weather will be showery with probable thunderstorms.

    Government wants to see intensified talks, practical discussions

    Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- The government has said it agrees with the UN assessment that June is a target date and not a deadline, but wishes to see the peace talks intensified in the weeks ahead.

    Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said that the Greek and Turkish Cypriot side must engage in "a practical discussion of the core issues" and stressed that there is a lot of work to do to break the current deadlock.

    FM: Annan's report serves political expediency

    Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has described a UN human rights report on Cyprus the product of political expediency and said government expectations with regard to the drafting the report were not met.

    However, the minister said this latest report, by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan for the period November 2000 to January 2002, is definitely better than the previous one.

    Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- The Turkish Cypriot occupation regime in Northern Cyprus did not allow a Turkish Cypriot who lives and works for the last nine months at the eastern coastal town of Larnaca, to cross over to the occupied areas for the funeral of his father.

    Cyprus averted presence of pseudo state in Moscow Trade Fair

    Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- The Government of Cyprus has averted the official presence of the Turkish occupied regime of Northern Cyprus in the International Trade Fair of Moscow MITT-2002, which opened yesterday.

    According to an official press release issued here today, Cyprus Authorities were supported by the active intervention of the relevant Ministries of the Russian Federation.

    Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNÁ)-- Cyprus House of Representatives President Demitris Christofias who is on an official visit to Egypt and President of the Peoples National Assembly of Egypt Dr Ahmet Fathy Sorour today reaffirmed the very friendly relations between the people and Parliaments of the two countries and expressed the wish for further enhancement in all sectors.
