Christofias says US could play positive role in Cyprus settlement

Nicosia, Jul 16 (CNA)-- The United States, with their close relations with Turkey, could play a positive role in resolving the Cyprus question, House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias said today, after receiving US Ambassador to Cyprus Donald Bandler, who leaves the island soon.

Speaking to the press after the meeting with Christofias, Bandler said "this is the right time to forge ahead and take the top decisions to build a better future here on Cyprus".

Kasoulides continues meetings in Israel

by Nicos Markides Jerusalem, Jul 16 (CNA) - Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides met today in Jerusalem with Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg.

During the meeting, which took place behind closed doors, Kasoulides conveyed a message from the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee for a meeting between members of the two parliaments.
