    Robles says overpopulation problem in prisons could be solved

    Nicosia, Jun 28 (CNA) - Council of Europe (CoE) Commissioner for Human Rights Alvaro Gil Robles said today that the problem of overpopulation in the Central Prisons in Cyprus would be completely solved, if the issues of aliens imprisoned for illegal entry to the island and persons imprisoned for economic debts, were dealt with in practical ways.

    Southeastern Europe Education Ministers sign memorandum

    Nicosia, Jun 28 (CNA) - Ministers of Education from Southeastern Europe signed a memorandum of understanding today in Nicosia regarding educational system reform procedures. The memorandum was signed by Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, FYROM, Serbia Mavrovounio and Bulgaria.

    Speaking after the signing ceremony, which took place in the context of the 7th European Ministers of Education Conference, Greek Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Petros Efthymiou said the memorandum sets even more decisive conditions for the Balkan countries to stop being considered a source of problems and become a source of welfare and stability.

    Nicosia, Jun 28 (CNA) - The accession of ten new member states to the European Union in May 2004 will extend the possibilities for dialogue between them in the field of education.
