    London buses advertise holidays in Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus

    London, Dec 6 (CNA) -- London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Brian Coleman has written to senior officers at Transport for London asking why they have allowed a travel company to advertise holidays in the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus on its buses.

    ''It is outrageous that London Buses, as part of Transport for London should allow travel companies to promote northern Cyprus as a holiday destination'', Coleman says in his letter.

    Cyprus FM: a lot of work done in view of EU summit

    Nicosia, Dec 6 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government is working very hard, on all levels, ahead of next week's European Union summit which will decide whether to start accession negotiations with Turkey, Foreign Minister George Iacovou has said.

    He also said that Nicosia is aware of pressure on Ankara to recognise the Republic of Cyprus and described as very important Tuesday's visit here by the Dutch Prime Minister and current president of the European Council Jan Peter Balkenende.

    Nicosia, Dec 6 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 07/12/2004 to 08/12/2004 ------- The weather on Tuesday will be partly cloudy with local showers or thunderstorms but on Wednesday fine with local cloud. Winds will be northeasterly to southeasterly light to moderate and the state of sea slight to moderate.

    Maximum Temperature: 17C inland and around 19C over coastal areas.

    Minimum Temperature: 8C inland and around 10C over coastal areas.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 09/12/2004 to 10/12/2004 --------------- Fine with local cloud on Thursday but risk of isolated showers on Friday. Small increase in temperature is expected.
