    Putin's statements on Cyprus noted, says Cyprus Spokesman

    Nicosia, Jan 11 (CNA)-- The Cypriot government noted today's statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Cyprus, Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said here Tuesday in a written statement.

    Chysostomides' statement came in the wake of comments by Putin at a meeting with Turkish businessmen, during Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan's official visit to Moscow.

    Cyprus Doctors of the World appeal for more donations to Sri Lanka

    Nicosia, Jan 11 (CNA) Television pictures have proved too inadequate to show the actual reality of the destruction in southeast Asia, said here Tuesday members and volunteers of the Cyprus branch of the Doctors of the World, who visited Sri Lanka.

    At a press conference here today, the Doctors of the World who returned from Galle, Sri Lanka, said that despite the catastrophy, the people of Sri Lanka are optimistic and grateful for the response of the outside world.

    The organisation further said it aims to continue its active support in the coming months and plans to contribute in the long-term to the reconstruction effort through infrastructure projects in the area.

    Turkish Cypriot side must present convincing information on missing

    Nicosia, Jan 11 (CNA)--The completion of excavations in the Turkish occupied village of Trahonas, which yielded no results, confirms the need for the Turkish Cypriot side to present convincing and corroborated information about the whereabouts of missing persons, Elias Georgiades, representative of the Greek Cypriot side to the Committee of Missing Persons (CMP) has told CNA.
