  • [01] CYPRIOT PRESIDENT - INDIA - COUNCIL OF WORLD AFFAIRS

President of the Republic of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos, who is paying an official visit to India, will address today the Indian Council of World Affairs in New Delhi.

The Council, was established in 1943 by a group of Indian intellectuals during the British rule over India as a think tank, a non-profit organisation exclusively for the study of international relations and foreign affairs.

In 2001 it has been declared by an Act of Parliament an institution of national importance. The Council played host to various important international conferences and has been visited by many international political and religious personalities.

President Papadopoulos and his entourage will later on depart with a special flight for Mumbai, making a stop at Agra, to visit the famous monument of Taj Mahal.

In Mumbai, he will visit Asia`s oldest stock exchange, the Mumbai Stock Exchange and in the evening he will meet with the Governor of Maharashtra, S.M. Krishna.
