A memorial service was held at Grammatiko village for the victims of the Helios Boeing, which crashed on 14 August 2005 killing all 121 people on board.

A delegation of 120 relatives, headed by President of the Committee of the Relatives of Victims Nicolas Yiasoumis, flew to Athens for the memorial service where they were joined in Greece by Greek relatives, as well as Cypriot relatives of the victims living in Athens. The memorial was led by Metropolitan Bishops of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki Nicolaos and Tamassos and Orini Isaiah.

Bishop Nicolaos assured the relatives that the Church of Cyprus would support and pray for them and expressed gratitude to the Church of Greece for its support.

Bishop Isaiah said a monument would be erected at the place of the crash, in cooperation with the community of Grammatiko village.
