Cyprus National Guard Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Constantinos
Bisbikas will pay an official visit to Hungary, November 4-7, at the
invitation of the Chief of the Hungarian Army Defence Staff, General
Andras Havril.
A press release issued by the Cyprus Defence Ministry said that
Bisbikas, who will be escorted by National Guard General Staff
officials, will have a meeting with the Hungarian Defence Minister with
whom he will discuss issues regarding bilateral military cooperation.
He will also visit military units and will lay a wreath at the Heroes`
Square in Budapest.
[02] SACREDEUS FAMAGUSTA
Member of the Swedish Parliament and former member of the European
Parliament, Christian Democrat Lennart Sacredeus has expressed deep
regret for the continued occupation of the town of Famagusta by Turkish
troops.
According to a press release issued by the Famagusta Municipality,
Sacredeus made the statement after visiting the Famagusta Cultural
Centre at Derynia, which borders the occupied town.
Sacredeus, who met Famagusta Mayor Alexis Galanos on Thursday, said the
European Union should exert pressure on Turkey to find a solution to
the Cyprus issue.
[03] CYPRUS - EUROPEAN OLYMPIC COMMITTEES SEMINAR
With the participation of 75 delegates from 38 countries, the Cyprus
Olympic Committee is organising from 31 October until 1 November, in
the coastal town of Larnaca, the VIII Technical Seminar of the European
Olympic Committees.
The COC has said, in a statement, that the seminar is regarded as a
very significant event for the European Olympic movement and
participations have exceeded all expectations.
The main speaker of the event, which is entitled From talents to medals
- Planning for the sport technical programme to London 2012 and beyond
is Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London Organising Committee of
the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
