  • [01] GAROYIAN - EU - TURKEY

President of the House of Representatives Marios Garoyian said on Monday that Cyprus` partners in the EU cannot continue to caress Turkey and implement a double standard policy.

Commenting on the second letter sent by Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat to the UN Secretary General, Garoyian said it ``once again reaffirms the longstanding aims of Turkish policy.``

``Mr. Talat is insisting on virgin birth, on the Annan plan, on two peoples, two states, two different religions, on the unacceptable Turkish demands for the continuation of the guarantees, but at the same time is concealing the huge issue of settlers in Cyprus,`` he added.

Garoyian pointed out that ``certainly with such positions these negotiations cannot move forward and I understand the reactions of President Christofias, who with his proposals, his positions, is proving every day the willingness of our side to reach a viable and functional solution the soonest possible, that will safeguard the interests and rights of the whole of the Cyprus people.``

    [02] SLOVAK MINISTER - CYPRUS

Deputy Prime Minister for Legislation and Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic, Stefan Harabin, has expressed his countrys support towards the UN Security Council resolutions on Cyprus and underlined that Turkish troops, which occupy part of Cyprus since 1974, must withdraw.

The Slovak official, who met here Monday Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kypros Chrysostomides, said that Slovakia is in favour of the implementation of the UNSC resolutions on Cyprus, the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation army and is against the illegal exploitation of properties in the northern Turkish occupied part of Cyprus.

Harabin added he is well informed about the Cyprus issue and the thousands of Turkish soldiers, who occupy the northern part of Cyprus.

The Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice noted that Slovakia, as an independent country but also in the past as part of Czechoslovakia, has always been supporting positions of principle regarding the Cyprus issue as well as the territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus.

    [03] CYPRUS AIRWAYS - FLIGHTS
