Russia and Cyprus collaborate for a just settlement to the Cyprus
problem, on the basis of the UN Security Council resolutions, President
of the Russian Federation Dimitry Medvedev has said.
``Russia and Cyprus are connected with traditions of friendship and
cooperation, they have a common aim for a just settlement of the Cyprus
problem as well as for the strengthening of their cooperation both
bilaterally and internationally,`` said Medvedev receiving the
credentials of Cyprus` new Ambassador to Russia Petros Kestoras.
He added that ``the results of Cyprus President Demetris Christofias
recent visit to Moscow confirm the common aim to cooperate actively
both bilaterally and internationally and of course for a just
settlement to the Cyprus problem on the basis of the UN Security
Council resolutions and the consensus of the parties.``
[02] EUROSTAT CYPRUS TRADE DEFICIT
Cyprus recorded a trade deficit amounting 5.2 billion euro in the first
ten months of 2008, figures released today by Eurostat, the EU
Statistical Service show.
The trade deficit of the corresponding period of 2007 stood at 4.3
billion euro.
Cyprus` total exports in the first ten months of the 2008 increased by
5% to 900 million euro, whereas imports increased by 17% reaching 6.1
billion euro.
In the same period, trade deficit in Greece reached 30.5 billion euro.
Greek exports increased by 2% to 14.6 billion whereas imports decreased
by 3% to 45.1 billion euro.
