  • [01] HOUSE PRESIDENT - CYPRUS QUESTION

At this stage of the direct negotiating process between the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriot side is raising a series of positions that are worse than those before 2004, House President Marios Garoyian has said.

Speaking at the funeral of Leontios Costi, killed during the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, and whose remains have been recently exhumed and identified through the DNA method, he said that the Turkish side is testing our endurance and resistance and aims to create conditions for the isolation of the people.

We do not accept nor do we deserve to be the last Greek generation in Cyprus. We will never accept a solution, in which our future will be uncertain and insecure in our homeland, he pointed out.

[02] AGRICULTURE MINISTER - WATER CUTS

The latest rainfall in Cyprus and anticipated rain will allow the government to handle the deadlines it has set much easier, as far as water management is concerned, Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment Minister Michalis Polinikis has said.

He noted however that it is too early to decide on final measures and whether these will be corrective or whether the Ministry will continue with the water cuts now in place.
