    Cyprus President Demetris Christofias departed for Brussels to participate in the EU Informal Meeting of Heads of State and Government to be held on Sunday.

    The Meeting in Brussels on 1 March, will address the ways in which the individual Member States implement the Recovery Plan and fight the impacts of the financial crisis.

    Speaking at Larnaca Airport before departure, President Christofias expressed hope that soon there will be a reduction in interest-rates in Cyprus, adding that his government encourages such developments.

    President Christofias returns home later Sunday.

    [02] CYPRUS FM - AUSTRALIA

    Cyprus Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou will pay a visit to Australia on 4 -11 March.

    According to an official announcement, during his visit he will have talks with his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith and meetings with state officials of Australia.

    He will also hold meetings with members of the Greek community of Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra.

    In Melbourne, Kyprianou, accompanied by the Mayor of Whittlesey, Mary Lalios, will visit countrys fire-affected areas.

    Cyprus FM will return home on March 13.
