[01] FM LIMNITIS ISSUE - DISAPPOINTMENT
Cyprus Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou has expressed his
disappointment regarding the Turkish Cypriot sides stance on the issue
of the opening of Limnitis crossing point.
Speaking after a meeting he held here Thursday with the Cyprus Greens
Party Secretary General Ioanna Panayiotou, Kyprianou noted that the
ongoing direct talks between President Christofias and Turkish Cypriot
leader deal with the major issue of the solution of the Cyprus problem,
and if the problem is solved there will be no need for crossing
points.
However, Kyprianou said, it is disappointing that the Turkish Cypriot
side despite its commitment to open Limnitis crossing point on March
2008, since then it raises new excuses and new demands not to open the
crossing point.
[02] CYPRUS - CHINA - TOURISM PROTOCOL
A Protocol on Tourism Cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and
the Peoples Republic of China was signed in Beijing by the Cypriot
Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Antonis Paschalides and the
Director of Chinas National Tourism Administration, Shao Qiwei.
The Protocol provides for a closer cooperation on tourism between the
Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) and the China National Tourism
Administration.
According to an official announcement, during the meeting that was held
before the signature of the Protocol, Paschalides expressed the wish of
the Cypriot government to increase the arrivals of Chinese tourists to
Cyprus and the two officials discussed specific actions and measures to
be taken in the near future in order to achieve this goal. One of these
measures is Cyprus participation in Beijings Tourism Exhibition to be
held in the Chinese capital in June.
