[01] ICELAND - CYPRUS TALKS
President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson has expressed hope that the
talks to solve the Cyprus problem will soon produce a just and viable
solution, and assured that the people of Iceland will always support
Cyprus.
Receiving on June 15 the credentials of Cyprus` new Ambassador to
Iceland, based in Copenhagen, George Kasoulides, Grimsson, who recently
visited Cyprus on the occasion of the Games of the Small States of
Cyprus, asked Kasoulides to convey his gratitude to President of the
Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias for the hospitality.
According to a press release issued on Monday, Grimsson and Kasoulides
determined the excellent level of relations between the two countries
and discussed matters of bilateral interest, with emphasis on the
cooperation of the two island states in the exploitation of renewable
energy sources and the application Iceland is expected to submit for EU
membership.
[02] HISTORIC CAR RALLY - PLATRES
The Friends of Historic and Old Cars (FIPA) and the Cyprus Automobile
Association (CAA) are organising the 4th Historic Car Rally of Platres
on July 4 and 5.
According to a press release, the rally will start from the Platres
Square on July 4, and will cover two regularity tests. The rally, which
will cover a distance of approximately 120 km with five regularity
tests, is included in the FIVA Calendar as a B event.
Any cars manufactured before 31 December 1983 and hold a FIVA
authenticity certificate can participate in the rally.
