President of the House of Representatives Marios Garoyian has expressed full satisfaction with the outcome of his official visit to Moscow and the clear positions of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin regarding the Cyprus issue.

In statements in Moscow, Garoyian said that Russia continues to follow a firm policy of principles on the Cyprus issue and wants to see the problem solved on the basis of the relevant UN resolutions and international law.

Describing his meeting with Putin, on Monday, as very friendly, cordial and productive, Garoyian said the delegation of the Cypriot Parliament briefed the Russian Premier about the current state of affairs regarding the Cyprus issue, the ongoing UN led direct negotiations between the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus and the fact that the results of the first round of talks are poor.

``We underlined some aspects of the Cyprus problem and the positions of the Greek Cypriot side, which are always based on UN resolutions and EU principles and values, he noted.

Garoyian went on to add that I have to say that we have found great understanding, pointing out that the Russian Prime Ministers positions were positive and clear.

Replying to questions, he said that Putins positions on all aspects of the Cyprus problem are clear, including the Turkish settlers, Turkeys guarantees, and other issues concerning various substantive aspects of the problem.
