  • [01] SERBIA PRESIDENT VISIT

    President of the Republic of Serbia Boris Tadic, will pay a two day official visit to Cyprus on 20-21 May, 2010. According to an official announcement, Tadic will be accompanied by Slobodan Milosavljevic, Minister of Trade and Services, Savo Djurica, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Cyprus, Jovan Ratkovic, Advisor to the President, Biserka Jeftimijevic-Drinjakovic, Advisor to the President, Marija Armenko, Act. Chief of Protocol of the President`s Office, Jasmina Stojanov, Deputy Chief of Press Department and Marija Perisic, Member of the Delegation.

    The delegation arrives at the Larnaka International Airport on Thursday at 14:30. At 16:30, the official Welcoming Ceremony at the Presidential Palace will take place. Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and Tadic will have a tete-a-tete meeting at 16:40 and fifteen minutes later the official talks between the two sides will be held.

    After the talks, Tadic will sign the Visitors Books and the signing of the Bilateral Agreements will follow. The two leaders will then give a press conference. Later on Tadic will hold a meeting with Cyprus Archbishop Chrysostomos II. The first day of the visit will be concluded with the official dinner that President Christofias will give in honour of his Serbian counterpart.

    [02] CUBA FM - CYPRUS - VISIT

    Foreign Minister of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla will pay an official visit to Cyprus May 20-22.

    During his visit he will be received by Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and will hold talks with Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou. He will also have meetings with political leaders and other officials.

    The Cuban Minister will arrive in Cyprus on Thursday at 15.55, local time. On Friday morning he will have a meeting with House President Marios Garoyian.

    Later on he will meet left-wing AKEL Secretary General Antros Kyprianou. After this meeting he will depart for the Foreign Affairs Ministry where he will have a meeting with Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou to be followed by official talks and statements to the press.

    [03] BAGHDATIS - ATP TOURNAMENT

    Cypriot tennis Champion, Marcos Baghdatis 29th in world rankings advanced to the quarter-final of the clay ATP tournament Open de Nice Cote d` Azur, as he defeated German Simon Greul with 6-3, 6-2.

    The fifth-seeded Cypriot won the match in just 66 minutes.

    For a place in the semi-finals Baghdatis will face Argentine Leonardo Mayer, 59th in world rankings, who knocked out Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci 6-4, 6-1 in one hour and 31 minutes.
