The Nicosia Assize Court will continue to hear evidence in the trial for the theft of the body of former President Tassos Papadopoulos in late July.

A new hearing has been set for July 28.

On that date the Prosecution will present two witnesses, Melis Ioannou, a member of Tassos Papadopoulos` guard and Maria Giorkatzis Ioannides.

The Court ruled that the two suspects, Sarbtzit Sing an Indian immigrant who is in Cyprus requesting political asylum and Antonis Prokopiou Kitas, known as ``Al Capone``, a convicted murderer serving life sentence, will remain in custody.

The third suspect, Mamas Prokopiou Kitas, ``Al Capone`s`` brother, remains free under the same terms, imposed by the Court at its last hearing.

During Thursday`s hearing, the Prosecution submitted the admissible facts of the case, which were acknowledged by the three suspects. Furthermore it submitted to the Court the voluntary statements made by the three.

Papadopoulos` body was stolen from his grave on December 11 2009, one day before the annual memorial service. He died on December 12 2008.

Papadopoulos was elected President of the Republic in February 2003 for a five-year term. He ran unsuccessfully for re-election in the February 2008 presidential elections.
